@SimoAmi

Hey, what would that look like with this texture (If made grey instead of blueish) instead?

@simoami

Just wondering if you had designed a "disabled" look for you gadgets as well? From the screenmode prefs you would have noticed that the width and height boxes are disabled if the default checkbox is ticked.

Hopefully the OS could simply make the gadgets 50% transparent when disabled which would make it so you wouldnt have to worry about doing disabled versions...

Hmm... does the themes that are currently being prototyped work under AROS?

I would like to test the GUIs, but I don't have my Amiga.... yet.

Bloody hell simoami that looks outstanding. Now you have done it I think that all ticks in tick boxes should be red to look like the Amiga tick!

Yes, I noticed that. I did it intentionally so that you can see how the gadget looks like by default.

50% transparent....might be an option but you might just want to change font colors or gradients. So having different images for different events solves the problem.

Hi there,

I was just wondering if 'themes/skins' would also work for MUI applications? I understood MUI is included with a default look in AOS4, but you cannot alter that look until you've paid for a full version of MUI? If you select a new skin for the desktop, wouldn't MUI-applications still have the old look?

Regards,

Onno

See the difference in reaction, Hyperion?

When the official screens were released, ppl said: ok, it looks good, it looks like amiga. There weren't much "Wow" or something like that. See the difference in reaction with SimoAmi's design.

So why not try to combine an excellent UI (done by an expert) together with an excellent look (done by an expert).

It is really fascinating to see both versions next to each other. Simoami's version looks much more modern, much fresher, easier on the eye and it still looks like an amiga. The gadgets could have been a bit better, but other than that, i LOVE it.

No, not really. For every design, you find people that like it or don't like it.

Don't get me wrong, I like SimoAmi's design. But it's always a matter of tastes. Some people even think that the 2.0 intuition look was too fancy and want the 1.3 look back...

Hmm, looking at SimoAmi's design again. The 4.0 preview one is really alot sharper and easier to read than SimoAmi's variant. Perhaps because of lower compression quality, different/smaller fonts or different antialiasing.

Ofcourse it is a matter of taste. It always is. But doesn't it make a difference when 2/10 ppl like it or when 8/10 ppl like it? Doesn't that mean that somehow, the author has created something that more ppl can live with it?

Don't get me wrong here. I'm not here to slag of Hyperion. I will be there with my money when OS4 is released, no doubt about that. I think you have done great work. But why not make it even better? Why not give it a modern, fresh look?

You only release OS4 once.

I believe the best solution is to make sure that switching between different themes is as painless as possible to the user, so then 10 out of 10 people could be satisfied or content with the design (rounded of course, as it's impossible to satisfy everyone, nomatter if you do exactly what they request)!
