@ruben

Any way UAE runs quite slow due to the poor SDL port under OS40 on AmigaOS40 pre developer version, things might change when the update is out, so P96 version + AHI is maybe a killer combo, Se from your web page that your planing to use AHI for MorphOS, maybe this the way forword,

Who's doing the port? Hyperion?

Yes, Thomas, Richard and me are doing an SDL port. It will be available in the next SDK as a contribution.

If you don't mind, you can send me the sources and I'd have a go at it over the weekend - SDL stuff should normally compile out of the box

A lot has changed recently, also on the SDL port. With the update, you'll see that SDL has become quite usable

Actually, he's not even involved in the SDL port in any way

Hans-Jörg and me did the basic port work, and Richard Drummond has been doing most of the recent work, including making it actually usable. Additionally, the sound code was done by Jürgen Schober.

@Rogue

Just don't forget to update the P96 docs, it kind of lame to read throw header files and protos to experiment,

Alex.

That's completely wrong.

The version of UAE on the pre-release doesn't use SDL. It uses P96 directly and yes it is slow with the 68k P96 (BTW, I do now have a version that is built against SDL for OS4.0).

The early versions of our SDL port (as was used in the some of the contributions on the prerelease) didn't actually use P96 for much - for example, all blitting was done purely by the CPU - so it wasn't really affected by the speed of the non-native P96. The latest version (which will be available as a contribution with the new SDK) does use P96 for blitting where possible. Even then, a lot of software will still use the CPU for blitting because P96 has no support for hardware-accelerated colour-key or alpha blitting.

Cheers,
Rich

MIDI will come, at least with the basic input functionality, but probably not in the first versions.

@spotUP

website is at www.protracker.info

The screenshot and specs are already outdated, I'll do a status update as soon as I have it running on mos and maybe os4

btw: I hope i didn't give the impression that it's almost finished. It's actually at a very early stage, there's still a lot to do until a public beta release.

aight. i just checked out the homepage. it was the same as the last time.
damn, hehe, yes you gave the impression of a public beta being very close,
I thought the version that rogue would compile would be uploaded to os4depot.
damn.

well well..

a lot of ex amiga mod musicians now use macs as their main machine, and I know lots of them miss protracker like hell. so, is a mac port possible?

I might be able to help you find a mac porter.. . .

any idea when i will be ableto try it out on my amigaone?

I'm interested too in seeing an OS4 port of Protracker. Is the actual version usable, can it be used to listen to and modify modules?

I hope that within 2 months I can release a raw alpha version that can be used to edit MOD files.

MacOS: I really want to have a mac version, I'll be looking for ways to do it.
