A few weeks ago, I bought myself a second hand CDTV for a measly 150DKK (about ¤20). Last weekend, I repaired the keyboard (the B-button was broken straight off). Today, me and Vir drove around for hours, until we finally found someone selling inexpensive, black 14" TV-sets. Turns out almost all TV's are silver grey these days. Anyway, we finally found one (the last set in the last shop we knew about in the last large shopping area we tried), and the result can be seen below.

Note that the picture doesn't quite do it justice, it seems the adaptive lighting feature on my digicam has added a lot more gray than should be there, especially around the keys. Anyway, to my original question: She's a beauty, isn't she?

@Kay

She certainly is !!! Ahead of its time too !

It makes me want to get mine out now. I bought one off Ebay about six months about for £15 and the only thing I am missing is the balck floppy drive. Hmmm . . . maybe I should just paint the plain beige one I have? On the other hand, I have both types of CDTV black keyboard - the one with the black keys and the one with white keys . . .

@RickCB

If you use the right texture of spray paint, i recon you could make a good job of it.

@hotrod

I'll try without adaptive lighting tomorrow.

@afxgroup

So did I, for several years. Now I have one, and it's every bit as cool as I had imagined.

@RickCB

I'd certainly look into painting the floppy drive. The CDTV looks its best when it's all black.

@SlayeR__

Aye!

Now, all I need is a CD caddy. I think the original black ones are next to impossible to find, so I'll probably end up painting a beige one.

I'm really looking forward to showing this one off on the next AmiTron show. There will be at least two CDTVs next year. Two CDTVs next to eachother, how cool will that be?

I have a CDTV here too, one of these years maybe I'll pick up a keyboard and floppy drive for it.

I would have buyed one at that price. Some "stuff" at the right of pic.... ;)

Oh, now must go to the BLACK (as my A1) BLACK beauty dreams as waiting for
Black Sabbath next Tuesday and offcourse IronMaiden Thursday (Wednesday was sold out..

So: Black is really nice and compared to cdtv:s time, futureal?

How could we really come along with vanilla Amiga:s, without coverdusts and cleaning.

It is a Beauty! I have one too. Now we need to get some V2.3 roms for you so you can use KS 1.3 and 2.x, 3.x . That was the first thing I did to mine. I'm missing the black A1411 floppy drive, but I bought my CDTV keyboard and matching mouse from Software Hut years ago NOS. I just recently picked up the optional CD1300 Genlock board NOS from a dealer on eBay.

Thanks for sharing.

@Kay

You're right, she's lovely.

I agree with Hot Rod. It appears to me the angle of the camera to keyboard plus the intensity of the flash has worked together to illuminate the dust between keys.

I just looked at my keyboard under a bright desk light too. Yep I got it too. lol

Now where is that airgun?

I never stop being surprised by exactly how difficult indoors digital photography is. I managed to get one half-decent shot finally:

I guess I'm just going to have to clean that keyboard somehow.

Just noticed in the first pic some kitchen roll. I wonder how much you like this machine!

That's really nice, I almost got myself one a few years ago, but I was to late.. That stupid f*ck gave it away to the mechanic who came to install his PC

I wonder... Would it be possible to play MP3's on it ? From CD ?

Cheers,

Martin

@A1200

Well, actually, I have set it up in my kitchen, as there is no space left in my bedroom, and the bathroom is not the best place to keep a computer. I still live in a student's apartment, and the 10m² already house two other Amigas, a PS2, a 32" Widescreen CRT TV, a bed, a table, a large storage cabinet, five years worth of university textbooks, a DVD movie collection, and a sizeable PS2 games collection, to mention a few things. Since the semester is over, all my neighbors have moved back home, and I have the kitchen all to myself.

And that's the whole reason, honest!
