@number6

I've been playing some anime fansubs that I know are divx encoded (but not which exact codec - I can look tonight), and they play at full speed, fullscreen on my 933MHz fixed XE with Os4Pre3. I tested with the avi files on my home fileserver (SMBFS over a 100Mbps ethernet connection) and on the local hard drive. My graphics card is a Radeon 9800 Pro hand-me-down from my Windows PC (got an X850XT now, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory looks greeeaaat ).

Incidentally, if you're into anime fasubs, check out "2x2=Shinobuden", it's freaking hilarious...

@CodeSmith

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. But I suppose you have a G4 w/altivec and are using dp#4?
The fellow who was kind enough to include the logs has a G3 and might not be as
fortunate with playback.

If you enter the parameters in a shell, use the workbench window mode.
Then you can -move- that centered window off of the verbose shell output.
You should be able to read all of the output concerning the codecs detected as
well as other interesting information.

Personally I hope to see this feature implemented in a future version of the GUI.
Deniil?

As far as being into anything, well that would be testing.
What I think would be extremely helpful to the author would be if we could locate
a website with a variety of sample media files.
If we could find a site that has a relatively complete set of codec samples, we
could all test the next version of MPlayer with the same files.
That way we could report issues that relate -only- to the program MPlayer itself.

Best Wishes,
#6

@number6

setting ideport transfermodes to automatic did help in my case...mplayer is now more stable, but now mA1 is using pio4.

So this isn't the solution.

@MZ

Try to set higher stack. 2000000 might be a good try.
Otherwise please wait for afxgroup to finish the next release.

@Samwel & others

I've tried increasing stack to 2000000 (or even to 8000000), but mplayer hardlocks after while...I have to push HW reset button to reboot.

Now I have UDMA5 (MODE 69) for Harddisk and UDMA3 (MODE 66) for dvd. I'm using ffs2.

I'm using latest GUI and dirty preview 3. My settings are: ahidev (allow mixing), cgxvmem:tinyborder,play in window, stack 8000000.

sg2 talked something about new a1ide.device? Could that help a bit?

Thank you for your support.

@afxgroup

Excellent pic. I noticed the P96.

@Deniil

Version 1.32, eh?

Now both of you go out and enjoy the great outdoors.

Best Wishes,

@afxgroup

Looks good. Will this new release be for the G3 only, or for both G3 & G4?

The beer is for the heat.

@sundown

The altivec issue was not intentional, so the new version should indeed
work with and without altivec (eg. G3 & G4).

I didn't read the complete thread about the problem, but I think I remember
reading that afxgroup had found the cause then got some problems with
his A1 and couldn't continue with development for some time.

AFAIK the altivec support is a simple compiler option (also maybe some defs
in the source?!?) and should compile the file to only use altivec if found.
Somehow this didn't work in preview 4.
Maybe Afxgroup could tell us more about it?

@Samwel

yes it should be resolved since because there are two g3 users that use it (a beta version)
