@Rogue

Actually I think you guys do a great job of smashing bugs. In every release I do not recall having any major issues with them. If you guys did not care you would probalbly do like most software houses and release the software buggs and all. Then have bandaid fixes to fix anything that makes the software unusable. I appreciate the testing (so I also would like to thank the beta testers that are doing a great job).

Also, thanks for the update.

Looking forward to the update and also looking forward to some new and original games once you get the OS where you want it. Although I think the OS is going to be an on going project. I can not complain about the time it takes for the updates. I think the updates have been very regular and I am surprised they come out so often. The quality of the updates really sets it appart from anything else though. keep up the good work!

@Stephen_Robinson

What did you do for the Amiga recently?

The way things are, we should be grateful that Hyperion is even bothered
to make a a release.

Just because the release date slips back two weeks, is it really
necessary to aggrevate the Twin Coders :). I don't think it's the
ríght way to do it. They deserve all the encouragement they can
get for hanging in there.

Its an estimated release date - nothing like a launch date - therefore its fairly "fluid", therefore subject to change.

Would it be just a downloadable ISO or are you planning on sending some CD out as well ?

Downloadable only

Quote:
Would it replace completly the system or do you need to have Update 3 Installed first (I have anyway... But in case of a Full re-install...) ?

The installer will be able to either update or re-install the system. No prior update is required, it is an entire replacement with everything new.

What you'll really find is someone spilt coffee on the main development box, and they couldn't find the backup source CD. When they found it, it was being used as a coaster!

The installer itself is critical.
All the files may be excellent and bug free and still...a problem with an
installer could make the user believe otherwise.
Patience.

And I think it's very difficult to test the installer, especially the part that updates a previous install. You have to install update 3 first and then 4 and see how it went. Isn't that right?

Eh? Doesn't "update" imply that update#3 is already -on- your system?
Doesn't "re-install" imply a "fresh complete install", like for "final"?

To that end I'd extremely very highly recommend installing upd4 brand new on a brand new formatted partition. Back that up and then reinstall all your software on top of that. Now is the time to back things up and prep. for update 4 while you are waiting.

So, do you have that blank volume sitting there waiting for update 4 yet? And don't give me any of that "When it's done" either.

@Rogue

I have Update 3 with SFS filesystem, Kens' latest and lost icons, the
Zami Theme among many other things. When Update 4 is out, should i
do a completely full-install that would replace the whole system,
or just an update-installment?

What do you think?
