Nice that it uses direct protocol access!
About webcams: SIP is simple (it's part of its name ) but I guess the encoding and transport controlled by SIP is quite messy and badly documented (M$ like to keep things private, right?).
Anyway, I think webcam PC to Amiga would be far easier than webcam Amiga to PC since there are no webcam drivers for Amiga in the first place... _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

Yeah, I couldn't remember the names of the other protocols required. SIP is not enough. You still need the streaming protocols, and they definitely aren't simple. These protocols are standard ones though and are published in RFC's. I had a look at this stuff when I was looking for a video-chat capable MSN program for Linux. The good thing is that someone has already reverse-engineered the proprietary compression CODEC used.
There are actually some webcam drivers using the VHI API (for USB webcams too). Unfortunately, my Quickcam 4000 pro isn't included. Someone would have to decode the Linux driver source and write one.
Sigh, if only I had more time; if only we had more developers with OS4 machines.

Hey Slash, what did you do with your Epistula page. It's great that you're supporting you're country's team in the world cup, but don't we need Epistula so we can gloat about every win in front of our foreign friends?
