| Just to give the author of Sputnik an idea of what kind of a 'market' there is for a css-capable web browser in the OS4 community. |

Count me in. I just hope those few OS4 "users" who insulted him doesn't put him off... _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6 |

I voted for "only if it's free" because although I might consider contributing to an OS4 bounty or something similar, I don't believe that you should have to pay for browsers these days, and I think it would be bad for OS4 if the only modern browser was not freely available.
OS4 really ought to have it's own "official" browser, even if this is licensed from a third party, as people expect an OS to come with a web browser these days. |

Well you have to compensate the author for his hard work so I really don't mind paying something like 20 EUR, it's the least I can do to support development on the Amiga. When it's mature, Hyperion could still license it to be shipped with OS4.x if they want to have a browser included with the OS as standard. Shareware is good because the shareware fees encourage the developer to continue improving the software, while a bounty is paid to the developer(s) once, when he completes a version which meets the bounty conditions, then after that who knows if he'll be motivated or not, while with shareware the developer gets continued financial support which makes him feel more that it's worth doing it, and the registered users get continued support and updates from the author(s). Well " free browsers" aren't exactly free because they generate revenue from sum where, usually advertisements etc. We don't have that mass market to tap into so it's only fair we pay for the hard work thats required, and not forgetting the fact he doesn't really follow Amiga OS, this is all work done at our request and he shouldn't be expected to give after suport for nothing.

I'm more interested in Paihia, but I'd certainly buy Sputnik for ¤20 if it was available first. _________________ "Miracles we do at once, the impossible takes a little longer" - AJS on Hyperion Avatar is Tabitha by Eric W Schwartz |

Hmm, the 3-year-old non-CSS IBrowse 2.3 is 54.99 EUR for the online-version (only download). |

Well, I didn't vote as I would not tell a price for something, that's not available. If it does what is announced, is stable, fast and has a good GUI, I would pay up to 50 EUR, if I would know, that it will be supported in the next time.
As long as there's no version for any OS ready it's just too early to ask for a price. So, please start this poll again as soon as there's something available.
Ciao, Alfred |

I think the GUI will be quite limited for the first versions and all the bells & whistles will be missing too, I suppose. Maybe we should give the browser some time to be developed further and consider a commercial release for a later point. Indeed, such a poll would be much easier to answer after the MOS-release of Sputnik, we could read the first reports, get to know what is not yet implemented and still missing and could make up our minds how much we were willing to spend on it. At the moment, we are limited to only some videos of show-presentations. |

Well I voted 40 euros, but it really does depend on the features of the gui that gets released.

I didn't vote because I don't know the browser at all. If it seems to suit my needs I'd happilly pay 40 euro, but since I don't know Sputnik, I won't put a price tag on it. _________________ Regards Thomas Graff Thųger |

I voted for the higher price option, as I have ben following the whole issue since the beginning on MZ and know how much effort Mr Marcik has put into this. Although I don't own OS4 anymore, but for a project such as this, which is most badly needed on the Amiga, price options should be a little liberal IMO. _________________

I voted for a 20 Eur Max (even with paying major updates for 10 Euros once a year). However for high quality product really supporting features of the platform (i.e. not just a port with "I develop on X, and it work on X") with high quality support (on OS4 I mean) and sustained updates/bugfixes I could raise up to 40 Euros. _________________ AOS 4.1 : I dream it, Hyperion did it ! | I was stupid and voted for EUR 20, thinking again I would be willing to double or trible that amount.
Basically I think a browser need to be available for every OS for free but I know that might not be realistic for us.
I voted low because I think browsers should be more or less free. Wouldn't mind paying as long it is samer terms/prices for ALL versions of Sputnik (68K, MOS, OS4, aros etc.).
If a bounty is setup I will contribute!

And where is the "more than EU80" button?
Suppose I would be so keen to encourage a programmer to produce stuff for OS4 that I would pay 100 or even 200 Euro ?
