@keisangi

I would try contacting Thomas or Hans-Jörg Frieden, they surely can help you.

@all
thanks for your support :)
I got replies from hyperion,
and the information about who is in charge for os4 localisation.
I mailed him, i hope i can get a positive answer..

having to switch to windows or linux each time i want to do mails or browse some japanese site is annoying.
I noticed AmiPDF already support Japanese and displays it very nicely.
(nice AA fonts)
So I hope OS4 get Japanese support soon.
I'll do my best to have the translation done FAST ;)

Will take a look now. I do surf japanese websites too from time to time, and it would like to start recognizing what's written there. It would be nice to be japanese support in AWeb/IBrowse someday, too.

BTW keisangi, how's your work with the Go's GUI proceeding? Any luck with the fork() implementation?

@Varthall

yes, kind of .. the fork error is gone, the pipe errors too,
thanks to the help of everyone on #amigadev (you, hnl_dk, spotup, nicomen ..)

so now the program compile and run fine.
but then, it's not working ;)
i mean, both gnugo and the frontend have to communicate to eachother through pipes. And the pipes don't seems to work as expected..

i'm not familiar with IPC (inter process communication)
and my C knowledge is very weak ;)
i'll need more help it seems.

each apps have to read and write to the other app's stderr/stdout..
plain text.. just coordinates actualy.. i can see pipes are created with scout or ranger. but the communication don't seems to happen.
so, so far the app starts, the gui show up, and just sits there, waiting for input from gnugo that never come..

Although a good idea, I'm sure that Hyperion won't let one single person translate the user interface to a foreign language. Proof-reading, the use of official terminology and general quality assurance isn't a one-person-job. Still, the offer (and the request) is a fair initiative.

bah, it's always the same words across all OSes..
the menu, the options.. it's the same as english version of linux, amiga, windows .. allways the same words are used .. "drawer/directory, file, about, new, delete .. really no big deal here.

beside, they could let me translate, and have someone else to verify all the work, it will still be cheaper that way than paying someone to do all the translation, paid on hour basis ..

anyway, i proposed, let's see what happen..

os4 already seems to support some ..israelic, arabic, russian ..
japanese too but amipdf only, so japanese support is already there.
just need some additional work to make it available through the whole system..

nowdays internationalization is a must have .
and, once you have unicode support it's not that difficult to add other languages.. imho

> os4 already seems to support some ..israelic, arabic, russian ..

You are mixing up the supported languages and the supported countries.
There is no arabic language driver. The hebrew language driver is
explictly documented as experimental in its releasenotes, because
hebrew is written (like arabic) from right to left...

Cyrillic languages like russian are supported.

> japanese too but amipdf only, so japanese support is already there.

In AmiPDF, not in OS4.

AFAIK the OS4 SDK contains a file Documentation/Localization/OS4Localization.doc.
You may want to read it.

The Amiga Translators Organization (ATO).

Me too.

Thats probably me.

There exists the file Documentation/Localization/OS4Localization.doc
in the OS4 SDK. You may want to read it. Especially the beginning:

----snip----
$VER: OS4Localization.doc 51.5 (28.11.2005) by Detlef Wuerkner

How to localize AmigaOS4
------------------------
For complete support of your language in OS4, you need

1) An 8bit charset with all characters needed to write your language.

2) A MIME name and ID for your charset.

3) A mapping table to Unicode for your charset.

4) The topaz font in sizes 8 and 9 in your charset.

5) A charset driver in your charset.

6) A language driver in your charset.

7) A country file in your charset.

8) A keymap for your keyboard and charset.

9) Catalog files in your language.
----snip----

For japanese, 1) is missing, 2) exists but not for 1), 3) exists but not for
2) and 1), 4) and 5) dont exist, 6) exists (as nihongo.language in the Locale
update for OS3.9), 7) exists (nihon.country in the OS3.9 Locale update), 8)
doesnt exist and 9) only exists on Aminet for OS3.9 IIRC.

Also this part may be interesting for you:
----snip----
1) An 8bit charset with all characters needed to write your language.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have only a vague idea what the term "charset" could mean,
first have a look at Charsets.doc distributed with OS4.

OS4 requires an 8bit charset where the range 0 - 160 is identical to
ISO-8859-1 as system default charset. If the remaining range 161 - 255 is
not large enough for all non-ASCII characters needed to write your
language, you have to wait until OS4 supports multibyte charsets, sorry.
This excludes e.g. Chinese, Japanese and Taiwanese.
----snip----

So sorry, but supporting japanese is not possible yet and we dont need japanese
translators ATM.

@Fransexy

> And chinese

I'm not aware of an 8bit charset which describes chinese, and OS4 currently
only supports 8bit charsets.

> and is russian supported already?

I've created many cyrillic language and charset and country and keyboard drivers and fonts.
AFAIK the ATO is searching viable translators for russian.

> and Korean

AFAIK this also doesnt fit into an 8bit charset. Thai fits, but its not possible
to squeeze the Thai glyphs into topaz/8.

> and insert here your preferred not Latin language

Cyrillic, greek. Thai would eventually work but the Thai glyphs dont fit into
topaz/8, arabic and hebrew are written from right to left. BTW latin has lots
of variants, many are supported.

> ahhhhh!!!! i forgot Klingon language support

The Klingon empire still didnt manage to add the Klingon script characters
to the Unicode database, a language which cannot be mapped to Unicode cant
be supported by OS4. This does not only include Klingon but also persian/farsi,
for OS3.9 there was a localization available on Aminet which used a custom charset
with custom fonts, I'm still looking for a mapping table of this IPJ charset
to Unicode to be able to use those farsi OS3 catalogs with OS4.
