Wordsworth 7 on OS4

I'm having problems with Wordsworth. I get a grey screen and can't see the text, nor can I change the fonts. The text is there because it prints. Seems to be under the grey screen. Anyone else have this problem and solution?

Thanks

@net80

I think you have to go into icon tooltype and put PICASSO=TRUE.

I've just had a look and my Tooltypes are:-

LANGUAGE=english
CLIPART=Work2:Wordworth7/ClipArt
DOCS=Work2:Wordworth7/Documents
TABLES=Work2:TurboCalc
PICASSO=TRUE

Give them a try.

@Frank
Thanks to Frank & Swoop I can see the screen now. However, still can't change the fonts. Also when I start it up I get a DSI error. But when I click on the DSI tap it runs.

WW 7.01 (with patches from Aminet) works perfectly under OS 4 final, without any DSI. With the native OS 4 drivers, it prints very quickly here on a networked LaserJet 2420. I even have mouse wheel with iprefs newmouse + freewheel.

Two drawbacks : no antialiasing and no modern import/export filter (ie Word, good RTF or XML).

I love WW, and I have been hoping for many years that somebody would develop it a little further (Digita left the Amiga market some time ago). Develop it or (at least) develop some libraries/modules: digitafont.library replacement for use with OS4 native font libraries and some import/export filters would be very nice.

WW was written before Amiga font engines supported antialiasing ergo it
cant know how to ask for antialiased glyphs.

Years ago I've published some docs on Aminet which explain how to use a non-Digita
Amiga font engine with WW, search for WordWorthEuro.lha.
You tell that Digita left the Amiga market and ask for volunteers which give you
import/export filters for free? Without any developer docs from Digita how to
write them? That sounds like a tricky task.

I`m using OS4 final and at the moment I cannot remember the problems I had before. Then again if you go to the final release you will have snags with Finalwriter. I do remember that a re-install sort out some of the things you have mentioned, don`t know why it cured it though.

@net80

Why do people always add an extra "S". The programme is called Wordworth not Wordsworth.

I use WW7 on OS4 quite a lot, in fact it seems better in final than some of the pre-releases. You do get the occasional GR though but it is one you can usually click though and then save your work.

You could try running WW on the workbench screen to see if that helps. The Picasso = True tooltype needs to be enabled.

WW needs to know where to look for its fonts. Do you have a dawer in envarc: called "Wordworth"? If not create one and it will need to have a file in it called "WwFonts" which contains the path to your Wordworth fonts. Mine is set to "Work:Wordworth7/WwFonts". You can create this file with any text editor if it isn't there. or if there is a file with a no longer applicable path set.

Interesting, where do you set this option to use the mousewheel with older applications ?

I looked in Prefs -> Input but there is no option there ?

However, still can't change the fonts.

If you look in your Wordworth directory there is a 'WwTools' drawer.
It contains several tools, and three of them are:-

InstallFonts
InstallOutlines
InstallPCIntellifonts

Run those, and Wordworth will install the fonts from the selected directory.

Then when you open Wordworth your installed fonts will be available.

Wordworth uses a similar, but seperate system to amigaOS to install fonts.
the .font and .otag files ar stored in Wordworths own UFST drawer, and doesn't use the system fonts. Therefore you have to install them seperatley.

if you look at the .otag files in notepad you will see they contain the same information as the system installed .otag files, but they are located in wordworths own drawer.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the responses. I did all of the suggestions above but still unable to change fonts. The good news is that I no longer see the guru on startup anymore...

How have you set this up?
Is this the 'newmouse' option of IPrefs, or the 'newmouse' program from Aminet?
Is Freewheeel the program from Aminet, or is that an OS4Final option/setting?
Which one (Newmouse) in conjunction with Freewheel?

Any pointers greatfully received.

I tried that and it seems to work - however it totally breaks the mousewheel support in DOpus 4 so I don't think I will be using it

What version of DOpus 4 are you using.
I have just tried it with DOpus4.18 OS4Native, and scrolling works fine.

That is the version I am using. The scrollbar moves all right, but it does nothing to the list contents which do not move.
