I bet many of you remember the classic Desert Dream demo by Kefrens. Well, a group just cloned it on C=64 at Breakpoint.

Well worth watching Gentlemen, start your C64s and VICEs.

@Tomas

Use one of the plethora of C64 emulators.

For the Amiga you have VICE, Frodo, MagiC64, The A64 Package
For the PC you have, CCS64, VICE
For Linux you have VICE (notice a theme here )

That was a pretty awesome remake actually. Kudos to the C64 coders out there still doing these things!

@Tomas

That would imply your kernal rom is missing, or your path to it is set incorrectly.

The vice archives should come with all necessary kernal, char and basic roms for each model of machine emulated in its own directory. Thus, there is a directory called C64 which contains:

Directory of W:\Emulations\C64 Emulators\WinVICE-1.21\WinVICE-1.21\C64

@Tomas

Insert Disk 1 - Part 0 and type this

Load"*",8,1
(wait)
RUN

If Part 1 and 2 dont load you can reset the emultor and do the same again

hmm don't know whats wrong then, it should have worked

Maybe you have to tell the emulator at startup how many drivers there is

@Tomas

I have only used VICE under Windows, so I just tried it on the Miggy.

Basically, once it is running, you select the menu for Attach Disk (Device 8) and click your d64 disk as you have done.

Once attached, in the emulation, you should be able to do as RWO said:

Type:
**** COMMODORE 64 BASIC V2 ****
64K RAM SYSTEM 38911 BASIC BYTES FREE
READY
LOAD "*",8,1 <enter>
SEARCHING FOR *
LOADING
READY.
RUN <enter>

And all should be well. Once it asks for part 1, attach disk 1, and the same for when part 2 is needed.

If you still have problems with the disk drives being found, make sure the "DRIVES" directory is present and your preferences point to it as it contains the necessary rom images for the various 5.25" floppy drives.

@Trezzer

I loved this demo on the Amiga 500 - incredible that it can be done on the C64 as well. The C64 is certainly my all time fav. machine (along with the Amiga of course)!

Cheers,
Bean.
