Much more detail on the agenda for this evenings special meeting of the Kent City Council: http://www.kentreporter.com/jumpstory.html?story=news1&pubdate=7/25/2007
The thing that jumps out here is the difference between the other articles, (which seem to indicate Monday as a more pertinent deadline) vs this article, which says:
Quote:
"If the money is not available by Thursday, we will recommend to the Council to move on from Amiga," Hodgson said. |

I wish the media would name names instead of just saying Amiga. Amiga can't do anything! It is the people running Amiga who are giving the name a black eye. |
Also note how the newspapers tend to switch the references between "Amiga" and "Amiga Inc." This certainly communicates to the casual reader that the terms are interchangeable.

Which is quite comprehensible, seen from the perspective of an outsider. _________________

True. But the updating of the situation to council is probably not going to be done in public. Just the council meeting itself, imo.
Quote:
The City Council will receive an update on the proposed events center from city staff Thursday |
I read this as being "prior" to the public meeting.

The timing of previous updates from staff in regard to Amiga have been towards the end of meetings in public FYI. Hopefully they will stick to that tradition tonight. Last edited by fairlanefastback on 26-Jul-2007 at 05:25 PM.

Don't get me wrong. I believe there will be news of interest to the community. I'm just saying I expect more details to emerge from the newspaper articles that will inevitably follow. The meeting is for city business and I don't see how they will cover details unnecessary to the completion of that business. We, however, will have the thirst for those details (as per usual).Heh!

OS4 users can try this by typing this address into MPlayer, which did handle mms addressing last I tested it. Just enter the address under "URL" in the "HTTP" tab under GUI Version 1.42.
About 10 minutes from start assuming no schedule change.

| Amiga Inc. didn't come up with the dough. The city is going to break ground, if AInc. doesn't come up with $2.5 million by then Kent will work with the city attorney to terminate their relationship with AInc.
Apparently AInc. wanted to give them less money up front in exchange for paying more over the years. The city says no way, give us the cash up front! _________________ Here for the whimpering end |

| Oh dear, why am I not surprised... Well, lets give Amiga Delaware until Monday/ground-breaking to see if they change the course. If against all odds they had a real desire and ability to follow-through on this deal (for reasons which nobody seems to understand/know), they might make some last-minute concessions and still pay up... Yeah, right. Last edited by jtsiren on 27-Jul-2007 at 11:08 AM.

Well, THAT is another debate that I'm not touching with a barge pole...
But it would be interesting to see Amiga Delaware use that as their reason for pulling back from the arena deal... |

| @jorkany Oh dear. If Amiga Inc ever had any interest in being a real business, they seem to have changed their minds now. It seems the City of Kent has chosen not to include the Seattle Times' "history of troubles" article (and others' follow-ons) in its "Latest Updates -- Recent News" list on that page. It's best to not confuse the good citizens with too much information, I guess. |
Government is an "easy" target. Websites, like posts here, are merely snapshots in time. Even your post would be misleading read on it's own without reference to date. When someone alters their behavior, let's give credit where credit is due.
I think it took some courage to say this: Quote:
Ranniger, the City Council president, was also displeased that the council found out about Amiga's demand to control all of the arena's technology advertising from a Puget Sound Business Journal reporter.
"We're not as informed as we'd like to be," she said. "I don't know the reason why not, but I find it very disturbing." |
Also, we have a new program initiated by the Mayor (email) born out of a realization that communications needed improvement.
In addition, the website content has changed here:
http://www.ci.kent.wa.us/eventcenter/index.asp
"Recent News:" now shows links to more current info, that paints the current situation the way it truly appears.
All of the above represent changes/statements made in reaction to understanding how communications let them down. Admission of these issues and actually taking action to rectify the situation is worthy of praise in my book.
-That- action even further magnifies Amiga Inc's -lack- of action in solving -their- communication issues.

So if Amiga does not pay Monday whats our guess on whether they keep the Kent press release on their site? (Amiga.com that is) Last edited by fairlanefastback on 27-Jul-2007 at 07:57 PM.

There are no upcoming events scheduled. |
to...
Monday: Meeting with Kent City Attorney.
