@Jape

I am not going to work on U-Boot in the foreseeable future.

But I was under the impression that the PCI slot works.

@Jape

The PCI slot is working on my MicroA1. I installed a SATA controller in it.
Maybe a faulty PCI card?

I've got a working SCSI-card in it, so, like Rogue says: I am under the impression that it works.

@Jape

If your PCI really doesn't work then you may have been sold a Mk2 micro not a Mk3.
But from your Sig I see you have got a GX so that unlikely, but a possibility.

So who is? Or do we already have a replacement in the works.

What am I saying? We don't even have a machine yet with this stupid court case.

Graphics cards do not work in the Micro's PCI slot. I have one working here, under U-Boot, but it locks up every time I try to activate it under OS 4. Never tried Linux with it, but my impression is that the interrupt routing is different in the Micro.

Since no one is around any longer that can answer me that question, it's going to remain that way. Since no one is backing up U-Boot work financially and I have a heap of other things to do, I am not going to work on any updates for the AmigaOne any more.

Sorry 'bout that.

Nobody I suppose.

I do not think that any amount of software will help with the PCI Graphics card on the Micro, and there is no one around that can even come up with answers, so I really don't know what to do there.

And since the BIOS works except for this, I don't see the overwhelming reason to invest time in it.

How long have you been overclocking your G3 to 933MHz?

@Rogue

I've been waiting for a fix to use a GFX card in my micro, but it's pretty clear now that its not going to happen.

I do understand that some problems are just not fixable, so I'll get a sii card for it soon. I didn't like your answer, but thanks for setting the record straight as I can now put that slot to another use.

Merry Christmas

What you don't like is the situation i.e. a very small market and a motherboard not sold anymore. Not Rogue's answer.

@elwood

Nothing wrong with the way I said it, there are many things that happen in life that I don't like, but we learn to live with them. I'm not angry about it, just not the way I wanted it to turn out. This micro is my baby.

And thanks to your rather odd view of the GPL, none of the OS4 users can work on improving U-Boot for the OS4/AmigaOne combo, either.

Considering that this is exactly one of the situations the GPL was drafted to avoid, do you still maintain that you (or rather Hyperion, who are the ones actually distributing the stuff) are in full compliance with the terms of the license?

Since i bought it, early 2005
EDIT:
And it's with original shipped cooler.
Measured it's temperature several times and no any kind of overheating probs.
It's teperature got just 1.5 deg up. (measured from heatsink)

I do not have an odd view of the GPL.

Yes. As has been pointed out before, anybody can get the source code of U-Boot. The GPL does not require anybody to provide the source code of other items that are in the ROM, nor does it require to provide any tools (it does, for example, not require me to deliver a compiler either). Someone could replace only those parts of the ROM that contain the U-Boot code, I am not saying it is easy or convenient but it is possible, that is all that the GPL asks, but then, working on a firmware isn't easy either.

If you want to have the source code of e.g. Linux, you can get it, but SuSE is not required to provide a program to burn a CD and replace only those files under GPL (which, for example, includes the X.org server), nor are they required to provide a copy of mkisofs or something like that, which is the same situation as with the AmigaOne's flash rom.

So, I do not care whether you think this is an odd view or not, in my opinion, this is complying to the GPL. You will only need the source code itself to rebuilt U-Boot. You will need to find a way to replace parts of the ROM with the new code, true, but this is the same situation as with the SuSE CD mentioned above.

That is all I will say about this, and since this thread has (as I expected) again turned away from topic, it was my last word in this thread as well.
