I want know if the distribution of Amiga OS 4.1 will be available in one CD with the options of installing for different versions for AmigaOne, Sam and Amiga Classic systems, or we have buy the different CD versions for every system?

@Templario

AmigaOS 4.x so far has always been delivered in the form of one CD per target system, and I do not see that change any time soon. Mostly, it's still being distributed as OEM versions.

@Templario

We're concentrating on the SAM440ep version right now.

@Rogue

Will you give me "warranty" that when I will buy today OS4.1 ACube will have enough Sam440 to run this OS on it?

I'm just afraid that ACube will show "new" Sam... (flex? as "replacement" of Sam440ep)) and my AmigaOs4.1 (Sam440ep) will go to garbage...

I don't want be in situation that I will buy OS4.1 for $160 and Acube will "run out" of hardware...

I don't have money NOW for Sam (this kind of info was a positive but $700 is not cumming from heaven from one day to another... :) ) but I could buy a AmigaOS (today), to give you a "kick" so you know there are people interested...

Or I should wait until I collect around $850???

The same about" porting" AmigaOS... how now I should justify buying a Sam440!? No porting. I'm buying Sam440 even for this price. But... porting, nope... Sam is linux box for me.

@Rogue

As far as you know, the mac mini port is yet on schedule or is it discontinued because the developer working on it has quit his job on this ?

This *IS* a joke, right?

Rogue works -with- Hyperion who has produced OS4.1.
ACube produce the Sam440.
These companies MAY be working in conjunction with each other... but HOW could an independent contractor for a software company POSSIBLY give you any kind of assurance about hardware coming from a company he does not even work for?

The fact that you, along with many, don't have the cash to shell out *at this moment in time* ... really is none of their concern.

/me shakes her head...

AFAIK you cannot buy OS4.1 for SAM separately. The OS is bundled with the HW. That's why it's called OEM version.

@AmiKit

You should be able to buy OS4.1 for SAM as a standalone, otherwise where would the people who already bought a Sam get os4.1?

This has been answered many times in threads such as this one.

If the "AmigaOS 4.x so far has always been delivered in the form of one CD per target system" also will be available a version for the people that we have bought the Sam in the "Summer Follies", because the OEM versions as for example the Windows alsways have several versions OEM preinstalled in computer and OEM in CD Rom, and the normal version in box and well the different version the it. But if it will be possible a version OEM in plastic bag instead of box? for less money.

@AmiKit
Well the OEM version in the OS systems have several reads, because to can buy the Windows Vista in CDROM-OEM version for the PC saving money or also to buy the normal version with its box, manual, the CD-cover stamp, etc., all very beauty but innecessary, but there are people that like it, for example with the OS 3.5 very beauty but when I bought the 3.9 I liked buy a OEM version without box and for less money.
There is to give options to buyer, for your money available or like.

@AmiKit

From Vesalia site:

AmigaOS 4.1 for AmigaOne SE/XE and µA1-C (Amiga/CD-ROM)
This product is currently not available (ETA: September 23, 2008).
(Hyperion)

124.95

AmigaOS 4.1 for SAM440ep (Amiga/CD-ROM)
This product is currently not available (ETA: September 30, 2008).
(Hyperion)

118.90

prices are in Euro. So you can buy separate AmigaOS 4.1 for SAM440ep and it is even cheaper!

@kreciu

The Sam440 Flex is the same board with a different layout, so there should be no need for seperate versions of the OS.

There never was an "official" MacMini project. It is very unlikely there ever will be one.

If you buy a SAM440ep, you'll get an OEM version of AmigaOS 4.1, not the other way around. You cannot buy a SAM version now because it isn't sold yet.

And, as Yo points out, I work for a software company. I cannot even give you any sort of warranty for our software because I am just a contractor, and I can surely not give you a warranty for a hardware that isn't even produced by the company I work with.

Er... Huh? You don't need to port anything. We will do that, well, in fact, we already did it.

I cannot answer that. My info is that it is an OEM version that is to be sold with a SAM board. I *suppose* that existing customers of SAM boards will be able to buy a copy of AmigaOS 4.1 for the SAM. You'd have to ask ACube about that, though.
