How about this...

I was told AnimatED ran fine under UAE.

So, can someone try UAE on their SAM with OS4.1, then...

# See if they can get the classic version of perfect paint to run under UAE,
# if it does work, create a 256-colour IFF ANIM-5 or ANIM-7 file, then
# import the file into AnimatED, also under UAE.

Hopefully Blackbird will eventually sort out saving 256-colour IFF anims and pics with the OS4-native version of Perfect paint. Georges H already very kindly added some features on my behalf: you can now choose the max number of frames in an animation- before it was only 999, while Dpaint 5 allows ten times as many.

Georges also added a feature with the spare page: merging. In Dpaint you can merge the image in the spare page with the picture, or several anim frames at once. Either merge in front: good for superimposing titles & such, or merging behind: essential for dropping stationary backgrounds behind moving characters.

This feature is present in Personal paint, but you can only merge the spare page with one frame at a time, not much use if you want to merge with 100 frames!

I REALLY want to appreciate all Georges H and Blackbird's hard work, by using Perfect Paint to do animations on a SAM with OS4, THEN I just want to add timing and audio to them! I really don't see why that should be such a huge request!

The animation datatype is useless because the documentation in SDK does not explain how to load and read frames.
I have asked on www.amigans.com but no one can explain how to use animation datatype in games or programs.

The only thing I do know if the SDK was updated whit some more information, it shoud be easy to make tiny program to add sound to frames, animation datatype support sound in animations.

Well Mr.RoqueFort, i found the issues while PfPaint dont save the Anims...

its simple...i forgot only to copy the necassary "iff.library" to Libs...
Now (i mean the Anims only!) works PerfectPaint correctly to save a Anim with 2-256 Colors

and btw: PerfectPaint is not OS4 nativly ! it is 68k only. It use OS-Commands and its very fast....

@Blackbird

That's one step on my seemingly endless journey...

So, how about my request? See the first post of this page.

Think some people mentioned AnimatED runs OK on OS4 under emulation, don't know if it does on SAM and OS4.1 yet.

AnimatED is also 68k only, written in Blitz, like PfPaint, so if that can be made to run nice and fast on a SAM, AnimatED should also.

@RoqueFort

My pleasure Mr RoqueFort

i testet PfPaint without UAE. It runs on OS4.1 direktly on my A1...
i have no SAM, and i have no UAE installed, to test this out for you....sorry

it where very interessting to have the Sourcecode from AnimateED, then it was possible to fix some Bugs or add new Features or whatever...

You should try to get the Source from the Author that we improved AED!

I thought of that; I created a whole thread, "AnimatED on OS4," begging someone to port AnimatED to OS4. Without the source code, I was told this would be too difficult to be worthwhile.

While AnimatED itself can now be got freeware from Aminet, the source code seems elusive. The author, Marco Vigelius seems elusive also, as his old Email address vigi@cybercomm.nl seems to be no more.

If we could track him down, I expect he'd be prepared to give the source code away, as he abandoned the Amiga years ago, and probably doesn't care what people do with it any more.

Maybe someone could hack into AnimatED with Blitz...

@all

When launching PerfectPaint under OS 4.1 I get this message: "colmap.include.bb2: please install zlib.library V3.2+ !"

I've installed zlib from OS4depot - but it dosn't help

Sorry, but I don't see a library in that archive.
The Version 3.2 on aminet (68k) always worked with OS4.0. Dunno about 4.1.
