I am in to day 4 of OS 4.1 and software installation on a new Sam440ex-flex.
On day 3 I noticed that DvPlayer casued the whole computer to lock up,
with a power off needed to restart.This happens now every time I try to run it.
DvPlayer worked on the first 2 days
and nothing else seem to have the lockup problem.
In fact apart from DvPlayer things are running very well.
I did install and run Amiupdate on day 3.
Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this ?.

@Spectre660
Sorry, but Dvplayer has a limit in video formats to playing, I had the version included in the OS 4.1 in my Sam and for the other formats you need buy the full version for example to DivX, but also is very important to say that DvPlayer deosn't show the DVDs' menus why? I don't not because I didn't get to see my DVDs from here or international. And also this version in the OS you can't change the skin, but ths it the minor problem.

@Templario

I had it playing a DVD (no sound) on Friday. but from Saturday when I tried to load it to try it again
it locks up the whole computer while loading every time.

@Spectre660

Have you read through the included PDF manual?

Have you installed everything correctly?
Have you moved DvPlayer from Utilities/DvPlayer?
Have you downloaded the codecs from OS4Depot, and installed them correctly?

DvPlayer doesn't need installed in Utilities, because I have the full version installed in other partition and folder and it works very fine, the problem with the sound can to be the AHI channel.

@Spectre660
The sound problem could be for the AHI channel config because there is that config the different channels in the AHI prefs, for sound, music unit etc. and the DvPlayer I think remember that use the channel 2.

Sorry, I was trying to help Spectre.

He has a problem with DvPlayer crashing his system, and I don't know how that would give him a sound problem.
If he can get the default DvPlayer working, it should be easier to get the full version running (if he owns it).

avcodec.library should be installed in libs:
dvdvcd.plugin should be installed in DvPlayer/dvplugins.
a52.codec should be installed in libs/avcodecs.
dca.codec should be installed in libs/avcodecs.

I think many of these in the wrong place can cause problems for DvPlayer.
It can't hurt to check anyway.

This was the problem. Thanks.

Activating the tooltype NOOVERLAY in the DvPlayer icon solves this.

Thanks.
These are not installed in the OS 4.1 installation.
Downloading and installing fixed the issue with the sound.

@Spectre660

Was the sound issue just with DVPlayer?

I have had my Sam440 for a couple of months but with no audio on any software.

Would the codecs solve all my audio problems?

@1Mouse

Have a look at your AHI settings, and possibly download mixer from OS4Depot.

Are you not using an overscan autoscrolling screen by a chance? There's a recently discovered problem which happened with multibuffered overlay (which is what DvPlayer uses), that if you use a Workbench screen larger than the display size, then there were some deadlocks. This turned out to be a problem in P96 and a fix will be available with a future update of OS4. However you don't have to disable overlay to solve that problem for now, it's enough to use the NOTRIPLEBUFFER option to disable triplebuffering. That way you can benefit from the faster playback speed and higher quality (and hardware scaling) of overlay. That is, if your problem is the same as this one.

Regarding audio, you have to configure both Unit 0 and Music Unit in AHI Prefs. Programs which use the device interface of AHI (like DvPlayer) use Unit 0. Some videos however use audio codecs which are not part of avcodec.library, and have to be downloaded separately (see Swoop's message above). In a future update of DvPlayer I will add a requester which tells you if an audio codec was not found, it's probably better than quietly acknowledging that the audio cannot be decoded and remaining silent.

Indeed. This is it. I did spend a lot of time trying to adjust my monitor tooltypes. Commenting out the interrupt=yes in the monitor tool types stops
the Monitor from flickering off and on but causes DVPlayer to crash without NOTRIPLEBUFFER or NOOVERLAY tooltypes

@Swoop

When I open Tunenet and play a CD, when I click the tune button it shows that audio is playing.

Tell me why then I here nothing?

I have tried several AHI settings but with no luck.

P.S.
I also get an error when trying to obtain radio stations in tunenet
