I am sure at some point we will get into a discussion as to what the best application is for each application type. There should really be reviews.
I know there are quite a few apps listed but it is hardly the iPhone app store.  _________________

you forgot hd-rec for morphos and 68kk in music/other
you can add yafray for morphos too
you can add sfx and samplemanager to 68k sound editing (both runs on mos, dunno about os4)
kaya and amigaamp for morphos audio playing
goattracker for moprhos trackers
ncftp and ftpmount for morphos ftp (it looks like theres no solution for it now:)
also why forget ami trade center for 68k (runs on os4 and mos)
fxpaint and fxscan exist in morphos native versions (or existed, dunno if they are available or not)
streamdraw for paint / morphos
heck, why not add aweb and sputnik for morphos browsing?:)
you can add a network remote category, including VNC and remote desktop, there are several clients and servers for every os.
os3: amivnc, twinvnc
os4: amivnc,
mos: morphvnc, twinvnc, vncserver, rdesktop
aros: dunno
btw turboprint is commercial on 68k, and on morphos too, it has a licenced version, not the latest afair.

Photoretouching: ArtEffect, Photogenics5 as these are full blown image manipulation programs(painting apps), rather than simple photo retouching apps which I am going for.
I already have ArtEffect listed under Painting.
If nothing comes up in the Photo Retouching genre I guess we can push those applications there.
Did not add fxpaint and fxscan in morphos native versions because I want confirmation of availability. I will check.
Will add Remove Desktop, Mathematics, CAD, Drawing categories soon.
Please guys, the point is not to list every piece of software that ever existed, but the best for the job on each platform.

Yep, understood - but to be honest: Due to the fact, that most AmigaOS software doesn't have the usual Photoshop/Word/etc. feature set you often end in using more that one software for data manipulation.

You mean "ClassAct", ClassAction is a Reaction/ClassAct based tabbed browsing file manager. My favourite on OS3.9. http://www.martin-elsner.de/text/amcla.html

OS4 has TwinVNC too...
it also runs SFX just fine.
BTW what are the rules as to when a 68k program apears under a PPC OS?
For example you only have Wordworh under 68k when runs fine under OS4 , but you have ImageFX under 68k MOS and OS$ yet it's 68k?

About MorphOS:
SabreMSN is also available.
VLC should be added to video players. Frogger and AMP2 are also available natively for MorphOS.
Transmission can be added to torrent clients.
Tubexxx should be normalized in your columns. It's sometimes in "streaming video" or "youtube" category, depending on OS.
And Papyrus is indeed a native MUI office for MorphOS, but it was left in a quite unfinished state (many bugs). |

| sorry pal, still hd-rec: it should be in music edit/other not in sound editing, in fact you got it right in os4 but not with 68k and mos.
also if imagefx and ibrowse is under os4 and morphos coz of ppc extensions then digibooster also should be as theres a native morphos loader for it:) its still the best music creating app for morphos:) (cant wait for v3 from krashan:) |

The rules are if it is an OS3 app running via emulation on MorphOS, OS4 or AROS then it is 68k native and goes in the 68k column.
It doesn't matter if it runs fine....that is just a testament to the power of emulation. The elegance and power of the emulation on each system is not what I am debating.....yet.
With ImageFX I am having difficulty discerning its native status for Morphos.

So, I guess the rule is, that if the application has been significantly enhanced by the developer for a particular system, beyond merely compatability, it might as well be considered native to that system also. In the case of ImageFX, native was mentioned so I assumed there had been a deliberate enhancement of some kind for MorphOS. Let me know if this is not the case.
BTW. To me, and correct me if I am wrong, SFX looks like a 68k native program. http://www.sonicpulse.de/eng/p_sfx_download.html

Nope. 68k native I think.
I must say, as I go around looking at all the websites for all these apps, there is a hell of a lot more things out there than I thought.
Maybe we are not as stuffed on the app front, on any of the Amiga&alike platforms, as we think.
I mean look at this list.... I can pretty much point to anything I may need or want.
Still working on the list. Nearly done.

I Would like to know honestly if you would recommend to anyone that they run Papyrus Office if it is in an unfinished state and buggy.
I am trying to put down the best of breed available, and not every app ever created.
Actually, I wonder if we should really limit this list to what we would recommend to a noobie to the platforms._________________
