@all

First, please understand that until the schedule for Amiwest was recently published, there was no way to know what time would be allowed and for -what-.
Taken from post #1: http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32240&forum=16
At this point I have to read the news reports literally and interpret it just that way:

On Saturday Trevor will speak. Carl will speak. Steven will speak.
On Sunday Jamie will speak. Trevor will speak again.
THEN we have the only entry for a question and answer session that indicates it is for both Trevor (A-Eon) and Hyperion (The Friedens).

I'll invite you then to put some thought and some time into your wording and ask questions in a serious manner.
Please begin each post with the clarity of addressing your question to @Trevor - @ The Friedens - @ Carl - @ AmigaDave - @ Jamie - @Steven etc.
The point is to help the potential presenter of the questions to deliver it to the proper party.

This thread may continue, but will effectively -close- on next Thursday.
Since no one will probably feel comfortable with any principal (listed above) choosing the questions to be asked, I will seek out someone from the floor who is willing to take on this responsibility to represent all the posters in this thread. This will also offer a wider base of potential intelligent questions by opening things up to those who can not attend Amiwest.

What you will have to accept, regardless of the quality of the question asked, is that we do not know the content of the speeches prior to the question and answer session that is scheduled. Therefore, if a question is deemed by the presenter of the questions to have -already been answered- in the speech portions of the Amiwest program, it may well be skipped to cover something -not- already mentioned.

Why have I mentioned Carl, Jamie, AmigaDave, Steven when no question and answer is scheduled specifically for each of them?
I'm doing this so IF any of them ask for questions from the floor, we can provide those as well. In the case of Dave, who is not scheduled to speak as a presenter, but could surely speak about the new release of MorphOS, I would ask for the question presenter to just go to Dave personally and ask those questions.

This may or may not work out well due to the short notice and the general ups and downs the show schedule may incur, but it's the best I can do to help out a bit.

The way you can best make your people, companies, and representatives look good at the show starts with you...if you look good with your questions.
Let's try to remember that, ok?

@number6

My questions:

@Trevor

Can you give us some benchmarks of X1000 (eg. in comparison with original AmigaOne XE-G3)?

Is X1000 fast enough to play HD video?

@ The Friedens

Is multicore support even possible for Amiga OS?

Amiga OS today can use only cca 2 GB RAM, how overcome this limitation?

Do you plan some sort of UAE integration in OS4 (eg. like RunInUAE as contribution with required ROMs)?

Few from me:

@Trevor

1. Will x1000 sales oriented only on "old-fans", and not on new blood, and if only on old-fans, did you have in future plans attract a new blood to HW ?

2. Will there a new, more modern and more informative/professional site for A-EON ?

@Hyperion

1. Have you in plans expand back-user connection with your customers (i.e. inform them on email about how progress on OS going and so on, to give users more details to know about current OS state)

2. Have you in plans to create a new modern and professional site about AOS4, with docs, tutorials, videos, screenshots, articles and maybe even forum for customers ?

3. Have you in plans somehow inform your customers about "TODO / PRIORITY / ROAD-MAP plans" of os4 developing ? For example very interesting where in TODO further WB developing and rewriting (or changing) graphics subsystem.

4. Have you in plans to attract new-fresh-yang developers to Hyperion on per-month-pay basis ?

5. Have you in plans to make some kind of big-promo actions to the whole world, to attract more users later ?

@kas1e
I think your two Trevor questions were actually answered already in A Sunday with Trevor. There is a transcript someplace but in short, #1 is yes and #2 is yes. Perhaps you want to ask a couple of different questions?

Good point. For those who want to review what Trevor has -already- answered to avoid any duplicate questions, here is the written transcript of Sunday with Trevor from September 12, 2010:

Then a bit rephrazed question for Trevor:

As you say that x1000 will be oriented on old-fans, will it mean, that all the future developing of new HW will be also oriented on old-fans ? What i interested to know, will aeon+hyperion try to attract new blood, without which, platform will not survive (just because all old-fans getting more older and die :) ).

@Friedens (representing Hyperion I presume??)

- Will USB2 support and the new Shell be available for AmigaOS4.1 upd. 2 users soon?

- Could you show us a roadmap for AmigaOS4?
Basically so we (users) can get an idea of where it's heading and what your priorities are. I'm not asking for guarantees that this or that is released at some exact date, just a word on what direction you are taking.

- Could you do a (monthly) blog to tell a bit about progress and what your are working on atm?

- Have Hyperion considered a more open approach towards the community and it's customers ?

@Troels

-What are your goals for the remaining part of the year? (to Both Hyperion and Aeon)

-Beta Testers NDA on the X1000 what will that cover? (everything, or will users be able to say what software/hardware works, what the performance is like etc) (Aeon)

-You got rights to the AmigaOS3.1 source code, does this also mean you will be able to bundle 3.1 kickstart and a workbench environment with a future version of AmigaOS? (Hyperion)

-What would you most like to see ported or made for AmigaOS? (to Both Hyperion and Aeon)

-What are your main goals for next year? (to Both Hyperion and Aeon)

-And if you can answer where do you hope to see Amiga in 5 years time? (to Both Hyperion and Aeon)

@number6

Well, I expect my questions will be answered at AmiWest anyway, but just in case, I'll ask my main question here too:

@Trevor

In the recent interview with AmigaRoundTable, you mentioned that Varisys had some ideas on what to do with the Xena coprocessor. Can you elaborate on that? Are there any expansion cards or applications in the works at Varisys?

@The Friedens

There are a number of key features that have been mentioned or partially introduced already. These include memory protection and multicore processing as particularly major examples. Will these be available/fully enabled with the next major release of AmigaOS (OS4.2?) or will it take longer to develop these features?

@Trevor again

Can you give us a status update on the OpenOffice Light port for AmigaOS?

Also, can you provide any info on the other projects currently active on your Hardware Loan plan?

@The Friedens

- When we will see Warp3D replaced by OpenGL port ??? (for having at least the same FPS than MorphOS)

- When FAT32 will be greatly improved (actually verry poor support) to have AOS4 really open to others OS ??

- When the official release message of the OS will be as good as the MorhOS one ???

@Trevor

- Is it possible to have better tower case than the actual one ??? (no reset button for example)

-Do you plan to support the classic line Amiga any more? (hyperion)

-Is your main business AmigaOS now or do you still plan on bring games like Gorky 17, or software titles like Realsoft 3D to the Amiga? (hyperion) (ps I know your working on timberwolf and adding a lot of new features to os4, most likly cant do everything but just like to know)

@Hyperion

1. How is Timberwolf progressing?

2. Are there any plans to support the X1000's XMOS chip within the OS or will this be left to third parties?

3. Would you consider shipping future OS releases on USB memory sticks as well as CD? Thinking for Sam460ex in particular and those of us who only use the our optical drives to install the OS then it collects dust for the most part afterwards and want to build compact, low-profile, systems.

4. When are we likely to see the next OS update?

@Trevor/A-EON

1. Have any X1000s reached beta testers yet?

2. When (realistically) will X1000 be available for end users to buy?

@Daniel
Timberwolf is not associated with Hyperion and never was. It just happens that Hans-Joerg and Thomas Frieden who work on Timberwolf also work for Hyperion. There is no direct connection to Hyperion.
