hi all

Had a look at the sam 460 pdf manual on Acube site today this dont sound to good. Hope it is fixed soon.

here is bit that worrys me. The bit about PCI-Express slot is not current fully supported, U-boot

Video output
The current U-Boot version supports video output from:
- onboard SM502 VGA port
- Radeon card on PCI slot
To change the preferred video output, select it from the “Video Option” U-Boot menu.
Video output from a Radeon card in the PCI-Express slot is not current fully supported, U-boot
will POST the card (to be initialized later from the Operating System) but video output is not
enabled.
Notes
1 - the SATA2 port and the PCI-e 1x slot are mutually exclusive, only one of them can be used
at a time:
· to use the SATA2 port, close J16 with a jumper, and select the corresponding entry
in the
“PCI-E 1x / SATA-2” U-Boot menu.
· to use the PCI-e 1x slot, remove the J16 jumper, and select the corresponding entry
in the
“PCI-E 1x / SATA-2” U-Boot menu.
A reboot

@g01df1sh

Do you mean to state that the SAM460 BOARD is no good? Or that it merely is a matter of fixing UBoot to enable the great capacities of this board, which may take a little time.
From what i read between lines ACube is a small and very active company lacking sufficient tumb-twiddlers to perform miracles.

@g01df1sh
PCI-E needs the new drivers Hans de Ruiter is developing. Early versions were demonstrated on the X1000 with certain cards, work is underway.

@DAX

Oh, it seems PCI-E will need an Uboot upgrade too by what manual sais
But I am sure they will soon overcome it.

Bear in mind:

a) Its a bit older manual then now and not final
b) Product will be on sale in November which leaves time to fix both Ubot
and RadeonHD driver

@vox
Acube is in "very" close contact with the U-boot folks, they will provide as soon as all the needed parts are ready.

@vox

I hope that the version of Amiga OS 4.x that will be sold with the Sam 460 will include the RadeonHD driver.

@thread

Correct me if I'm going wrong here, but uBoot not supporting video output over PCIe isn't a problem, if the Operating System can initiate PCIe video output itself later, once its booted.

As long as that happens, and as long as uBoot can still give video output using the onboard EyeMotion thing if need be, I don't see that there is any immediate crisis.
