@Templario

My A1 is down at the moment, so I can't confirm versions, but the latest Battle for Wesnoth available for AOS was unplayable. Graphical glithces, slowness, etc.

I keep using the previous version, that run fine. And fast.

@Templario

Maybe if nothing "strange" was introduced in meanwhile, i presume it is already on the afxgroup's todo list

@BrandonLee

Mmm latest version 1.8.3 from Andrea works great on my Sam

@samo79

Here on my A1+OS4.1 it doesn't work.
Since the previous version works so well, I didn't care too much. ;)

The wait is the worse.
I can't be sure if, even if I exaust all options, it will work again...
I still have a couple of options left, though. Waiting to know how much they will cost! ;)

Yep sound logic but maybe if you told Andrea about you can help him to fix

@samo79

I contacted Andrea in the past. I thought he was no longer doing the Wesnoth ports.
To be honest, I haven't played it in a while.
The game has always given me problems, except for a few versions halfway. Most people don't seem to have the same issues.

The game runs perfectly on my Sam 600, some slow in big maps, and any visual bug, but I could kill the orcs, I donwload the Windos version to get the files with sound, graphics, etc. and also I made one donation for Andrea Palmate for his work and cheer up him for a next version of this game, although for big maps I'll have play the game on my Sam of 1GHZ when the sound drivers will be availables.

You guys should read the wesnoth.readme file, you will find that Fredrik Wikstrom (salass00) has been doing the wesnoth ports for years now.

@sundown

But now I have begin to play with it, because before with my old Sam was impossible. But also is possible that with a interesting port of Fredrik I'll donate money.
At least I know to who arrive the money, because with other systems, I doubt it....

@Templario

I have 1.4.7 (the latest version on OS4 depot) and 1.8 (from Amigasoft.net).

The problem I have always had with Wesnoth is that some scenarios won't load, I believe because they are looking for a particular filename and Linux is less case sensitive than Amiga OS. Certainly, Wesnoth needs to be on an SFS partition; on an FFS partition, the filenames are too long and get truncated. In some cases I was able to edit the files and get the scenarios to work, in others no joy.

When I upgraded to 4.1, this problem seemed to multiply. I can't even replay some saved games that played fine under 4.0.

So I got 1.8, it seems to run quite stable for me, but still won't load the saved games that were created when I was running OS 4.0.

@daveyw

Also I had problems with the version 1.4.7 with update 1, with update 2 this problem disappeared, with the last verion the 1.8 from Andrea Palmate, the porting runs perfectly somettimes some screen parts are made blots, but I haven't problems with the campaings only with the big maps on my Sam of 600 MHZ, but the game goes well.

@daveyw

I seem to remember that at one point when a newer version of Wesnoth was released, it couldn't load saved games from earlier versions.

@daveyw

the one I got from amigasoft firstly, still doesnt run, secondly only reason I was excited, was for online play.

The older version works just fine though, but doesnt let me play with or against other global players.

SO thats my status report on my issues with the game, everything else about the game is fine and I like it.

Cheers

@Tuxedo

If this still applies, i don't know, but the reason why there was no newer port done, was that the Wesnoth devs switched to use BOOST...we don't have that (yet), so nobody bothered to try and port it.

In the meantime, though, as Pavlor pointed out, there might be even more missing dependencies added to the code...i wouldn't hold my breath
