Agreed, but my take on the situation is a little different than most. Many people seem to want to push more and more risk, expense and pain on Hyperion, expressly so that they can remain in their comfort zone.

To draw an analogy, it's as if we are all on board a sinking ship, where only Hyperion and A-EON are making any attempt to cast water out of the vessel. Meanwhile, we "passengers" all stand back in judgement of their efforts, disgusted that they haven't made us more comfortable "onlookers".

That's what frustrates me about the situation... In their position, I'd say to hell with you then, and abandon ship.

In reality, the ship may eventually sink.. at least we can all be so proud we didn't allow ourselves to be "hoodwinked" on the way down.

Ok, I understand this but I think also if any beta tester wanted to leave or could not afford the second payment then they could opt out and would be refunded.

I will agree with you on this point and I do wish they perhaps take note of what most other project do and just say "When its DONE!" but it is mostly likely one of there most asked questions is "when is it due?" and I do think they give their best guess, but that has got them into trouble.

That is an absurd observation. There are many people in the community that are keeping "Amiga" alive. You forget the Morphos guys who have helped os4 guys in many ways especailly as of late. What about all the cool hobby programmers that are involved in NG movement? Many guys doing nice ports and things. Also original software. DvPlayer, Audio Evolution, OWB, etc etc

Now I think you are getting "hysterical" The amiga ship has been taken on water for some years now, but for some reason the ship wont sink!


Which is fantatic because without this hobby a lot of us would really miss it. Even with fanboys and trolls and what have you, we share a common interest.

Surely, "they spaced out the date for a year".

Optimism might be based on any partners capacity to produce boards or port AmigaOS 4, or some of the financial flows was slower (or all 3 combined).

However, project is on the way now, and major fear - that it will NOT be released, is taken out.

Waiting ... something Amigans are quite used to

But yes, better no promise then false promise.
In those terms "2010 Year we came back" campaign was a failure

nice picture. from my pirate tales a sinking ship like that will never reach a harbour anymore and if it does it will never sail again. most wise choice is to cut all the sails, fall all masts, and after you realize the ship takes more water than you can pump abandon it with a rescue boat. ("red corsar" by james fenimore cooper).

that is what actually happened. morphos and aros people took their boats and sailed away into the future. while the rest are imprisoned within the ghostship with no boat left, luckily there is a sandbank beneath, so even though the ship cant move it too cant sink completely. just dont die of hunger, would you?

"red corsar" again. afair the senile sick captain abandons the ship first, which doesnt make the situation exactly worse. it just lets the others reconsider the situation calmly.

how much time you need yet to realize? its been ages already.

now, to extend the picture, the remaining crew is mostly passively sitting on board waiting for whatever help to come. sometimes someone jumps into the water and disappears, sometimes someone gets back on board. the bootsman and the lesser officers with the help of few started building a raft from the remains of the ship. perhaps it will sail, but most likely it will be hard to navigate. will it catch up with the rescue boats?

Why would they bother posting into a thread that's been nothing but a slagging match and a bitchfight, so much so that it's already been temporarily locked. What would they have to gain? Certainly not respect, as it doesn't seem to be forthcoming from the vocal majority. They'd only be getting more hassle from the likes of you.

I know with threads like this around I wouldn't bother with this site at all if I were them.
