This library replaces Warp3D if you're running a gfx card without miniGL support. New version supports 2048x2048 screenmodes, on Aminet.

Tested new version with enabled Compositing. Hell, i am really surprised !!

All the tests i do on my peg2-1ghz with Radeon9250. Everything tested with all default settings (because all the users will all the time use default settings of course).

As in the readme Alain point out that the best expirience you can notice in TheVague mag (as its fully 2d, just uitilize warp3d for faster rendering) , i test it first:

1 Original warp3d.library supplied with the OS (i.e. current, real, warp3d which radon9250 users can use). Loading of mag, and tryint to scroll first article (intro) fast fast up-down by slider. Cpu loading are: 12%

2 Alain's Wazp3d.library, _WITHOUT COMPOSITING_: everything slow. Cpu loading through about 80% (not 100), but still everything slow and unusable.

3 Alains's Wazp3d.library _WITH ENABLED COMPOSITING_ : surprise ! Everything _VERY FAST_. I trying to move article fast-fast - cpu loading 12% maximum + everything very smooth and fast. Just like natural HW acceleration (what compositing actually is as well).

Through, as side note, alpha-channel didn't works with compositing seems, and that still to be fixed and small glitches with textures (a little ones, but still).

So, what it mean ? It mean that with compositing, Alain's wazp3d already the same by speed as warp3d one on the apps which 2d-over-3d, and where compositing play a big role.

Then i going to test opengl game "Cadog Adventure" (some 2d fun platformer use opengl, so in our case minigl/warp3d combo):

Warp3d original: fast
Wazp3d without compositing: runs, works, but slow very much and unusable. 2-3 fps.
Wazp3d with compositing: works good ! not as fast as original (on which its very-very playable), but still very playable. I think some fps loss. Fade in/out effects works fine with no problems.

The next one was brain party. Windowed opengl puzzel. With compositing works as it should, fast and good , just like it real warp3d. Without compositing slow like hell and have black screen for few seconds, so i just closed it.

Next one was "Caph". Without compositing just halts, with compositing just do not works sadly.

Next one was "Dragon Memory". With compositing works fast, but colors are wrong. And some textures just missing. So then i change Hack Texs option to "No (safe)" and its all renders correctly and all playable pretty well. A bit slower than over original warp3d, but not much, and still pretty usable and fast.

Last one for tests was opengl demo from traction called "its full of starts". With compositing it have visual bugs, problems with alpha , and works not so fast. Without compositing alpha works, no render glitches, and speed is muuuch worse in compare with compositing. But with original warp3d, its all the fastest.

So the in end:
1) compositing support speed up stuff a lot, and some openg/warp3d prods works very fast, just like originals.
2) compositing support in wazp3d still have glitches and problems with alpha and textures.
3) every RadeonHD user should try to use any opengl/warp3d app firstly with compositing, and if something wrong, play with setting of wazp3, such as Hack Text and others. And only if you have no luck, swith to non-compositing soft mode like as necessary evil.
4) in some parts, original warp3d still faster in compare with wazp3d + compositing. But that cleary understanable, because with original warp3d everything accelerated, while with compositing only some parts.

But in end, support of compositing are good step for sure.

Interesting findings. Might give it a quick whirl before working on more pressing stuff.

@Alain Thellier

Thanks really big time !

For example, Switcher3D works nice.

@kas1e

Thanks making those speed tests. That compositing mode is nice and fast.

@all

Are there any optimal settings for Sam460+RadeonHD ?

With Compositing2D

Aquaria runs, intro is played but then crashes....But it is very fast :)

Freespace2 runs also menu graphics are very fast..but in the game only 1/10 of screen is displayed.

Supertuxkart freezes.

I guess my settings are wrong..

With Compositing2D + Wazp3D, there can be solution until Gallium arrives ..

@SinanG

The best way is to contact with Alain directly, and ask him about it.

Ideally, will be cool to have some "works for all" default settings, which will works just like original warp3d, but currently you can play with all those settings in wazp3d-prefs and tryint to find out with which ones your games/apps will works best.

If something will not works at all or works wrong, then bug-report to Alain and so on :)

@kas1e

Alain confirmed that he wil take some rest about this project since he has had it up to here.

He'll work then on some evolutions in Wazp3D we've talked about on Amiga-NG.

Regarding the prefs, someting should appear in the v53 Beta

@Kas1e

Thanks for the tip about the composition. Before that it was useless for me. Everything was so deadslow and not usable. Now the munchdude_hero feels runs smooth :) Wonder if theres anything more to change. Im on x1000 and as theres no 3D driver wazp3d is welcome :)

@tommysammy

What Wazp3D Settings are you using ? Is this on a Radeon4650 or another graphic card ?

@Tomppeli

You cannot at the moment. But something should appear in next releases. Stay tuned.

@K-L

It looks like Wazp3D doesn't support double height Warp3D context (double height screen). (To handle double buffering that way.) Any plans to support it ?

It'd be great if Wazp3D Prefs have different profiles for each Warp3D application ?
e.g. Q3 profile, Aquaria, Freespace e.t.c

@Tomppeli

No idea, better ask Alain about this pecular question (for the moment, he's taking some rest).

@SinanG

We'll see how it is implemented in future versions.
