@All

Just wanted to say that LoView is an absolutely must have program, a bit like iPhoto for the Amiga and I have decided to make a contribution for such an excellent program.

I have a question:

If you select to play a slideshow you get the option to play music during the presentation, is there any way to set the volume level as it plays quieter than I would like?

I could not see any tooltypes for volume level, also what does it use to play music files?

LoView it's written with Hollywood, so I think that it use the Hollywood
commands to play music, for the volume did you tried using Mixer?

I do not have mixer installed, from memory it doesn't work with the on board audio chip on my SAM460!

Possibly, but how to adjust volume?

You don't.

Since it's a library, the control of volume falls to the program itself, and Loview docs have no mention of volume.

well...
the volume cant be setted simply because I dont tought to that :P
But since now someoneasked for theat I can:

1 - add a MusicVolume ToolType for start volume
2 - make up/down arrows able to change Volume in SlideShow/Video Mode...

What do you think about?

Thank you that will be just perfect! I cannot tell you enough how I am amazed at this program, good software like this will hopefully help the Amiga get to a stronger user base.

Programs such as Pagestream, Photogenics, Art Effect, Final Writer etc are mainstream and must have type programs, alongside such as LoView, DVPlayer, Mplayer and TuneNet are desperately needed. Unfortunately some of those programs are no longer developed or even ported to OS4.

To be of use to everyday computer users what are needed (OS4 native) are an Office application, image manipulation, movie viewer and editing suite, Image viewer, music player and many others that will appeal to people willing to support minor platforms such as ours!

LoView is great. It is my favorite image viewer as well.
I have not looked to much into it, but do you know a nice way to integrate it with DOpus 4 ?
Thx

@Tuxedo
I've been using the LoViewTHumb a lot lately to reorganize my picture files. Sometimes I need to look in 2 different drawers at once to spot duplicate or near-duplicate pictures. However, I can only run 1 copy of LoViewThumb at a time. Would it be possible to allow 2 copies to run at the same time? If not maybe you could include 2 versions like LoViewTHumb1 & LoViewThumb2 that could be run at the same time. In fact, it would be really handy if you could move a picture by dragging it's icon from one LoViewThumb window to the other.

LoViewThumb works well enough as it is but I'd like to see the GUI selection methods changed to match the way WorkBench windows work: Single left mouse click seclects a picture, holding shift button with left clicks to do multiple select and double-click to open the image in LoView. If the right mouse button is not used, then maybe it could be used for a popup menu at some point.

Sounds a lot like Workbench + preview function, maybe this will require no third party software some day.

@Tuxedo

I have now Loview with DOpus and it work fine. There is still not exactly how I wanted it.

If I go to a dir.. with pictures and select lets say pic.. nr 1 and nr 10, LoView will show all the pictures from that directory. If I close Loview, Dopus will open it again and show me picture nr 10. Is there a way LoView could only show me the pictures I selected from DOpus ?

I tried the singlepic option but could not get it to work.

@nikosidis

For multiselect you have to use ARexx... it already works sending iamges from LoViewThumb when you multiselect...
Now I'm in hurry...later I will explain you how...

For the SinglePic I use that on Dopus4:

LoView -SinglePic -file {f}

and works perfectly.

@Xenic

launching 2 LoViewThumb instances due to LoViewThumb internal design was quite complex atm...plz be patient :)
For the workbench like behaviour on selecting images since Hollywood cutrrently dont support double click and I preferred to not emulate it atm(at least for the next release) I dont change it sorry, but in future that can be change :)

@nikosidis

well...
I checked my code and the LoView multiload functionality atm works in that way:

- pass the "MULTILOAD" ARexx command to an opened LoView instance or do from shell:

LoView -multiload

After that LoView will look at:

T:LoView/ImgLst

where ImgLst was an ASCII file with in every row the image to load...

Dont know if there was a way to do easly that with DOpus...

Hope that helps...

EDIT: now LoView saves the music path :)

@Tuxedo

Thx for the info.

I did not find a way for this to work with DOpus, but I will try little more later.

-singlepic works but when the program have to close and open for every picture it is little slow.

What would be perfect to me is if LoView had some kind of cache for images selected.
MysticView have that. Source code included in AROS contribution.
Images would load so much faster. This is most noticable if the images are real big.

Thx again for the fantastic work you have done with LoView.

OK. Thanks for responding. You can only do what your programming tools permit.

@Xenic

WoW! :D

Can I include the script in LoView archive?

The script can be modified to send the image list to last LoView running instances like LoViewThumb does?
To look at the last launched LoView instance simply look at T:Loview/ and search for the LoViewX(X was a number) and choose the greater number, that was the ARexx port of the LoView program...also try to check if the flag can be deleted since it remains in the dir if LoView crashes and you havent launched any new LoView instances after the crash...
Hope to have explained that correctly...sorry for bad english...

@nikosidis

Image preload cache will be really nice feature but unfortunately Hollywood wasnt mltithreading so was impossible to do taht atm... :(
Maybe that can change in future...dunno but I hope.
