Hi guys im having trouble with my setup again out of nothing.

when i do a hard reset or cold boot my system freezes at bootlogo of os 4.1

when i then do a soft reset it boots normaly.

Also when i change my sii3114ide.device driver to version 51.54 it boot in 1 time cold reboot.
only with the latest driver for the sii3114ide.device the lockup occurs.

its been gone for awhile but i didnt change anything and there it is again.

got any clues of what this is?

my hdd and dvd are in dma mode .

my system Amigaone 500

@klapdeur

What devices have you attached to the sii3114 card?

Maybe one of them is not resetting properly when your system boots.

If you only use sii3114 device, you can commnet in Kicklayout the ther ide/sata (have a backup of your AOS boot system if problems arise) devices too see if there is something strange between them.

@klapdeur

this could also be an issue with your graphics card,

@klapdeur

How's the setup of your UBoot variables? Especially sii3114ide_conf and sii3114_maxbus?

I experimented a lot with many graphics cards, a sound Card and an Ethernet card so I have seen some things.

There are many areas that can cause the hang. So you could include your ethernet connection if you have one as well.

If you have a bootable SDcard you could see if you get the same hang when booting from it to try to eliminate the Sii3114 card.
You may have to set USB as the first of second boot device in Uboot .

@Spectre660

I have to add just few things that are happening here from time to time.

Sometimes when I reboot Amiga [Sam460ex] - it stops on boot logo [it happens once in 10 reboots]
Sometimes it boots without mouse
Sometimes it boots without keyboard

I think USB is disconnecting from time to time [I have USB splitter for a mouse and a flash].

Nothing to bother about but to me looks like it does not have enough power to turn on all devices. Or I might be wrong.

@djnick

It is possible that power is a problem. Max from Acube had posted that the majority of Sam460ex USB issues were probably caused by the power supplies that could not handle small loads like that of the Sam460ex motherboard .He suggested testing by adding extra load like a second hard drive to see if it would help .

@wawa

wel i dont have any problems if i use an older sii3114ide.device like i said in my first post.

if i use latest rev it locks need a softboot to get a full boot.

for now i changed to version 51.54 sii3114ide.device and idetool set my hdd to dma and dvd to pio modes no problems now. till i replace sii3114 driver then the lockup at cold boot is there again.

At that time, the user-startup & startup-sequence files are setting up WB, could be a rogue app loading.

Another thing to try, my micro will do the same thing if I have all 4 usb ports active, I fixed that by commenting out the kickstart lsi53c8xx.device.kmod file in kicklayout. Its a scsi driver. if you don't need it, try commenting it out & see what happens.

@sundown

If we only had some clean OS 4.1 installation to boot from we could eliminate certain things fast ....

@Spectre660

Thanks. I will see. It happens without any pattern - just randomly, from time to time.

I found that connection problems exists - when I plug in HARDER usb - sometimes keyboard start working [or mouse] but sometimes - don't. Also it happens with web [once in 10 reboots too]... I have no net connection and sometimes I have... Like cables "slips out" from its place... Strange, but it happens...

@djnick

I have the same problems here on the A1SE, so i think
it must come from the OS, drivers, etc.

Edit: by that i mean, if something works always under linux
and sometimes does not under AOS.

Edit2: maybe it has something to do with the loading of the
kickstart from the device, reading faults are possible there,
if kickstart would for example be loaded from a flashrom it
would maybe give no errors, just thinking loud up here.
