@TheDaddy

Cool, but there's a way to show the rewards (ie X500 Plus imagine)?

It would help in promoting pledging

Hopefully you'll get a couple more orders from the USA once people have got their tax refunds. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get a refund, just a whopping big bill.

I'd love to contribute but do not have any interest in this form factor, though some others clearly do.

Have you thought about advertising on other vintage/retro computing sites?

At this rate unless you tap other markets it does not look like you'll get funded.

@Kremlar

Thanks for the advice, although you'd have thought that the Amiga community alone would have been enough...clearly not. but I'm confident there is going to be a last days surge!

You're right when you say that we need to tap into other markets but I'm doing this alone and within a limited time frame. A couple of people from amiganews.it are helping out with spreading the word but we need more.

A massive thank you by the way!

To everyone:

The idea behind Kickstarter is to fund (help) people with projects, people who otherwise wouldn't be able to complete it or making it into production.

Kickstarter itself was born when the creators couldn't get funding from the banks.
If I went to a bank they wouldn't even open the door...

A lot of people fund kickstarter projects just to help out, not even for the rewards.
I have had a few pledges from £1 to £50 from people who wanted nothing in return, people who have never seen or used a wedge shaped computer in their lives and never heard of the classic machines we grew up with. They just want the project to be completed and reward the creator for his efforts.

Still a few day to go...

PS: Someone has just pledged for the keyboard alone with the Amiga adhesives.
Thank you!

The keyboard also comes with C64 adhesives.

I would not rely on that, as it is *not* guaranteed to happen.

@TheDaddy

The keyboard was a nice idea, unfortunately for me it was the least desirable part of your product

And I'm sad to say, I just got a ton of bills I hadn't expected (fourth month in a row now with extra expenses) so I'm out. Good luck.

I know what you mean. The end date really sucks for me as in April I have to pay my tax shortfall for last year, my first quarter taxes for this year and a bunch of stuff on my new house construction as it is supposed to be finished that month. In the end I figured I was going to have to come up with so much cash that an extra few hundred bucks wasn't worth worrying about and it could sit on my credit card for a couple of months.

57.5%...

Sorry about that, it's always difficult to know when to start a project like this...I suppose I could stop it and start it again at a later date?!

Well, there is no time stop, but there is also nothing stopping you from
setting more realistic goal (e,g. 5 000 - 7 000GBP) even if this one fails,
or setting it again later with more minimalistic goal of additional smaller batch
if it succeeds.

P..S.
It also caught me "by surprise", and sadly, due to some conference I have to attend in April
cant afford even a tempting barebone offer now. Will support it by smaller help in this round,
and barebone or black edition in the future.

Lemon Amiga, retro gaming forums ...

As much as it can be done now, but more as for the future

a) Try contacting owners to put it as news
b) If possible make some 5-10 batch that would go computer magazines for review (or websites) to You Tube retro gamers big channels, and similar. That could be good investement
in visibility that could easily come back
c) set all support options from day one and aim for little lower round if affordable,
initial was for 40 full orders but it looks large in overall 10 000 GBPs

I wouldn't stop it. Hopefully it will make it, and do as others say and post links on other computer related sites. Hell, try dropping slashdot and cnet an email with a link to it and your video.

@vox

Thanks vox. I've decided not to stop it and let it run, if it gets its funding then fine if not I'd have shown myself that I did it, alone.

It's already set at the realistic target. Remember that Kickstarter themselves take just over £1000 in fees (including VAT and charges on payments).

We need £9000 to make 50 cases.

Anything less than 50 units makes the cases more expensive.

LemonAmiga, Lemon64, amigaworld (which leads the way in rewards), amiganews.it, www.tinaproject.it, ebay.it, amiga.org, amigans.net, natami.net, atariage.com, Micromart magazine, several other sites and all the people who registered (about 45...) have been contacted.

Sven has done a great job in Micromart magazine, the guys at amiganews.it are doing their best, ACube has helped too.

5-10 batches are impossible to make, they would cost £400+ each to make.

Thanks for your suggestions...

Hopefully only if project gets funded, but that is ~10% ... huh ... hope they will think of smaller frees in future

Quote:
What fees does Kickstarter charge? Kickstarter collects a 5% fee from the project's funding total if a project is successfully funded. Additionally, payment processing fees generally work out to 3-5%. See US and UK payments fees.

Its sad they take fees from you and not from donor. Strange.

Quote:

OK, then and if possible, think of funding few of a batch that could be sent for magazine
real reviews in "traditional Amiga countries" like Germany, UK, Poland, France, Italy or on the net.
If they would return interest, maybe another kickstarter could be set and so on.

Quite tricky situation when people are not used to waiting for something and want it instantly,
while you cant deliver since there is no actual factory and big business behind.

Always. Trying to walk your shoes and make it happen
