Very plausible, indeed. After switching to English installation is no issue. The script runs perfectly. Issue for Hyperion?

Thanks for the help , i'll have a go on trying Huenison.. looks very promising and love the graphics.

Thanks for trying and reporting. You might want to report the issue to Hyperion as well at http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz/ .

Have fun, and good luck with climbing the leaderboard!

@saimo

On my system (XP SP3), Huenison crashes after the second boss. I hear the digitized voice but don't see the "face" and I get the classic windows crash dialog box. First time at 97360, second time at 102545 points, damnit ! Any idea ? Should I try to reinstall Huenison ?

Sad to hear that
Let me ask a few questions...
* I take it you refer to the intermezzo, not to the beginning of the next level - is that correct?
* Does it always crash, even when restarting from that point with a password, or only after finishing the boss?
* Are you using the updated version?
* By any chance, do you have other versions of the SDL libraries registered?
I'll look into the code, and I might need your help as I don't have an XP machine at hand. Also, can you please send me an email to postmaster retream com? So I can give you test builds and also upload your hiscores to the server

@saimo

Purchased and installed the game only a few days and just had a quick go so far. It works very well and happy that it works fine with my USB joypad. I can see myself spending quite a lot of time with it.

Thanks, your words are especially appreciated after the report above
Have lots of fun!

@Lynx

I have a test build ready. Please contact me by email. I need your help as I can't reproduce the problem, nor I can see anything wrong in the code relative to the part you indicated. Thanks.

Good or bad news ? I couldn't reproduce...Since I hadn't written down any password, I started a new game, writing down all of them and...this time no problem. The intermezzo at the end of Boss-2 played fine and I could go on. Finally died on Rush-3, quickshooting like mad, I can once again claim the top score of 128691 !

First off, congrats on your new hiscore and taking the top spot in the leaderboard
You misunderstood me: I inteded to give you the test build so that you could try and give me the log it would output. However, if you're not experiencing the problem anymore, it's useless. It might be well a sign that there was some Windows and/or SDL problem, not a bug in Huenison itself.
Anyway, could you try to restart from level 17 (NORMAL.3a) multiple times to see if the intermezzo crashes, please?

@saimo

I understood you and wanted to try your first suggestion : start at Normal-3A with the password given at the end of Boss-2, just before the crash. But I hadn't written down any password...so I had to start over again just to get them. As I finished Boss-2, I wrote the latest password down and pressed Return, waiting for the crash, and...nothing happened. As you can see on the top score list, it hasn't failed since

@klx300r
You're welcome. 200000 is the next goal now.

This is one of those situations where one isn't sure whether to hope that the problems occurs again or not. Anyway, if it happens, you know what to do
Triple congratulations on taking the whole podium, breaking the 150k barrier and approaching the 200k one! I'll mention your achievement on the Facebook page later today (can't now).

@saimo

"Face-off" !!!
I stupidly commited suicide on it and even more stupidly, I didn't write this last password...Boss-3 was a nightmare.
The last level-3 levels (After Wall-3) were not so hard thanks to chains...I got many points on White-Mayhem thanks to an INSANE chaining with Clear condition each time...the last was over 3k !!!

I can Quickshoot rather easily now...I am still not sure about the requirements. At first I understood the directions as "Shoot all 5 different colors in less than 2 seconds", which I still believe is near impossible whithout luck...but if I get it now, it is "make more than 4 successful color changes (that can be just swapping back and forth between 2 colors) & 5 kills (or just hits ?) with less than 2 seconds between each (and no miss ?), BTW you can shoot twice in a row the same color provided you shoot another color less than 2 seconds after the first "same color" kill." Is that correct ?

Finally somebody made it to that last final level!!! I'M DELIGHTED!

Quote:

Well, that's not really your fault: BOSS-3 pushes the player to the limits (as you said yourself) and then there's the expectation of that last level, which is totally new and different from anything else, so it's easy not to think about noting down the password and also to get caught by panic
But no worries: just restart the game, select the PASSWORD option, and the password will be right there for you to put on paper.

Quote:

And also because I decided to bring the pressure a little down (just a little) before assaulting the player with those last two levels

Quote:

Yes, exploiting chaining is one of the key to make huge hiscores!

Is that correct ?

Yes and no.
It works like this:
1. you hit a brick, and a 2 seconds countdown begins (it's the QUICKSHOT bar that appears on the display);
2. within those 2 seconds, you must hit a different brick in a different color (both conditions must be satisfied): if you manage, another countdown begins;
3. do the same 5 times in a row, and you get the bonus.
What happens in between the hits doesn't matter (relatively to the QUICKSHOT bonus, that is: a miss, f.ex. doesn't affect the QUICKSHOT bonus, but still affects the HIT STREAK one, brings the zapper down and lowers the shooting percentage, of course).

BTW: 254459 is a brilliant score, especially considering that you haven't passed the FACE-OFF level yet!
Gonna make a post about this on Facebook... EDIT: done.

Hi all,

quite simply, I'd like to humbly ask you: could you consider voting for Huenison at the 2013 Indie of the Year Awards? The nominations phase has begun just today.
If you think Huenison deserves it, it's sufficient to:
1. go to http://www.indiedb.com/games/huenison;
2. click the "VOTE" button.
Quick, anonymous and free (and non-binding: you can vote as many games as you want)!
And if you really like Huenison, you could also spread the word
