Funnies part is this :

Steven Solie did falsely claimed OS4 will "get MUI 4, like MorphOS already has". |
Just few minits before it was downloadable. |
While it is indeed funny that MUI4 was made available for AmigaOS 4 just a few moments after this comment, the comment itself is still quite valid. MUI4 for MorphOS is 4.2, version 20.6907, and MUI4 for AmigaOS 4 is based on a much earlier code (2006) of an old MUI4 beta, so it's still not true that AmigaOS 4 got it like MorphOS already has... Even though it's still a nice achievement and a great leap forward for AmigaOS 4.

But don't forget that a lot for work was already done improving the 3.9 to react as MUI4 react (plus a huge series of fix and various other improvements) then new MUI4 code was merged aswell.. so the current AmigaOS version is already way ahead compared to the 2006 earlier code of MUI4 Last edited by samo79 on 27-Dec-2013 at 12:59 AM.

Dear guruman, my point is not discuss about diffrenses of MUI4 versions made by different teams to different operating systems. Most important thing is language used, wich is used by some MorphOS hobbyists and accepted by rest of them.

Thanks for the tips. Everything was fine old MUI wise. The update.amigaos.net site magically connected after 2 days of attempts. I logged in with my Hyperion account info. After that and many updates and reboots later, all is well.

AND the comment was made by a strong supporter of MorphOS, who has also been the primary cheerleader for the bounty on Amiga.org.
And I can assure you that utri007 was none too logical in his counter argument or support, this being especially confounding as his primary target was the previously mentioned individual.
Once an offer I made of development hardware was rejected by the developer because he "only supported "real" Amiga OS".
Don't NG OS' face enough resistance from legacy fanatics?
"Real Amiga?" Nah. Better.Last edited by iggy on 27-Dec-2013 at 04:01 AM.

It is actually annoying because MUI 4 has always been one of the advantages MorphOS users were enjoying. While it is not "same" MUI 4 as MorphOS users have it is MUI 4 and great leap forward to OS 4. Indeed it didn't come as a surprise to anyone albeit it was anticipated to be released with OS 4.2 only. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook |

This OS4-MUI4 isn't "MUI4, just like MorphOS already has", those who claim it is the same thing are either dishonest or have extremely low reading comprehension. |

I kinda agree. Been following both Amiga.org and Amigaworld.net discussion and at the end of the day, if a release has improved user expirience/performance then I dont see the problem. |

It is only me MorphOS user seeing it as a "little" sign that the two camps are now talking each other and exchanging useful source code that will benefit both platforms? _________________ "When the Amiga came out, everyone [at Apple] was scared as hell." "seeing it as a "little" sign that the two camps are now talking each other and exchanging useful source code that will benefit both platforms?"
+1
Good/great news anyway!
(in my dreams we would have common SW base where OS teams compile their own flavours, and our niche then evolves in 3x speed .... . but it's ONLY in my dreams) Last edited by KimmoK on 27-Dec-2013 at 10:44 AM.

What advantage? A toolkit that is exclusively bound to one platform forcing developers to develop exclusively for MorphOS if they want to use the new features? I do not see there a big advantage. And it is only a matter of time when all platforms will enjoy the same.
I read comments on site like morphzone saying "we are the best" and looking down on the other camps. I am convinced that such a attitude makes people blind to reality and can lead to demise. |

| Great. With the coming port, Sam460 users won't even notice which OS they've actually in use.
The "dream" of phasing the two PPC-OS comes true.

| Well it is not likely these two operating systems will merge. And as to which is better.... I will let that go for now.
But, with all the finger pointing, it would be worthwhile pointing out which camp Andre Seigel belongs to, the involvement of Power2People, and that many MorphOS users contributed to this bounty. |

What is best depends on perference and what you want to do with said OS and hardware.
I got several Apple products thru work. I dont really like safari or apple in general, even tho I use them daily (again, due work). I prefere Amiga (AOS) or Wintel when working/having fun at home. But got several friends that swear to Apple products, just cause its what they are used to and it works for what they need it to do.
So I think its better to enjoy what you have and use, and let the people around you do the same. |

Well....did I mention that some of the MorphOS developers are my friends, and you guys DO realize that Fab is one of our developers too? So, for all our reputation for being contrary, I think this accomplishment reflects well on BOTH parties.
On Apple products, obviously I have a few, but I have also started buying used Sun hardware. Their X64 hardware is really well made.
