@sundown

Then, how to configure manually? My settings as per my other PC connected to the same router are:

IP Address 192.168.1.10
Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1

How and where do I use these settings?

The wizard never worked for me, always set it up with Internet Prefs.

If you look on your router, there should be an IP # 192.168.x.x, mine is 192.168.1.254. Thats the magic # to get the network going, find it & post here.

@WeiXing3D

For 'IP Address' and 'Mask' check Prefs/Internet 'INTERFACES (use a free IP number not used on your system/home, if your pc uses 192.168.1.10, then try with 192.168.1.110 or 192.168.1.210)':

For 'Gateway' Prefs/Interfaces 'ROUTES':

For 'DNS' Prefs/Interfaces 'NAME RESOLUTION':

In 'DEVS:NetInterfaces' you should have then:
'eth0':
# DEVS:NetInterfaces/eth0
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Viernes, 28-Dic-12 at 17:28:10
device=ppc460ex_eth.device
hardwaretype=Ethernet
address=192.168.1.204
netmask=255.255.255.0

And in 'DEVS:Internet' you should get/have (those files):
'routes':
# DEVS:Internet/routes
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Viernes, 28-Dic-12 at 17:28:55
default=192.168.1.1

'name_resolution':
# DEVS:Internet/name_resolution
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Viernes, 28-Dic-12 at 17:28:55
nameserver=8.8.8.8

If everything is ok, then you can type on Shell/CLI:
c:ShowNetStatus

And should get somethink like this (but with your config):
Resumen del Estado de la Red
Dirección IP local = 192.168.1.204 (en interfaz 'eth0')
Pasarela por omisión = 192.168.1.1
Servidores DNS = 8.8.8.8

This is what I have:
In 'DEVS:NetInterfaces':
'eth0':
# DEVS:NetInterfaces/LAN
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Monday, 27-Oct-14 at 16:56:51

netmask=255.255.255.0

# DEVS:Internet/routes
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Monday, 27-Oct-14 at 16:56:51
default=192.168.1.1

'name_resolution':
# DEVS:Internet/name_resolution
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Monday, 27-Oct-14 at 16:56:51
nameserver=192.168.1.1

And then on Shell/CLI:
c:ShowNetStatus

Network Status Summary
Local host address = 192.168.1.204 (on interface 'Lan')
Default gateway = 192.168.1.1
Domain name system servers = 192.168.1.1

What is wrong?

The following network files will setup a DHCP config instead of a static config. give it a try. Rename the 4 files you're replacing to make sure their not used.

In Devs/NetInterfaces, copy & save as SAM460

# DEVS:NetInterfaces/SAM460
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Thursday, 14-Aug-14 at 11:52:19
device=ppc460ep_eth.device
hardwaretype=Ethernet
configure=dhcp
id=SAM460
mtu=0

In Dev/Internet, copy & save as hosts

# DEVS:Internet/hosts
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Thursday, 14-Aug-14 at 11:53:21
192.168.1.1 SAM460

In Dev/Internet, copy & save as name_resolution

# DEVS:Internet/name_resolution
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Thursday, 14-Aug-14 at 11:53:21
nameserver=192.168.1.1

In Dev/Internet, copy & save as routes

# DEVS:Internet/routes
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Thursday, 14-Aug-14 at 11:53:21
default=192.168.1.1

Wonder what is the 6th line.

It is from the interface file, in this case PPC460EX_ETH.

@WeiXing3D

Going back to this.

Quote:
Domain Name (Name Resolution) 255.255.255.0

This is messed up. You have a standard netmask as a DNS server.

Quote:
Domain name system servers: 75.75.75.75, 75.75.76.76, 75.75.75.75, 75.75.76.76, 192.168.1.10

This still looks messed up, the IP D 75.75.75.75 doesn't respond here.

Quote:
BTW, I am using the Network wizard to create this new connection.

Lots of people have trouble with this but for me I have found it fine. The only main problem I can see it that it doesn't appear to actually test the connection. Now, it's fine to set a baseline but what it won't do is wipe clean all your other network settings. It will add an interface or replace one of the same name.

So, some questions. Does your Sam460 have twin Ethernet ports and if so have you set the correct unit?

Have you made sure there is only one interface file in use in DEVS:NetInerfaces?

I think you will need to wipe all your other GW/DNS settings. You are using DHCP so there is no need to set IP addresses manually. Roadshow has been put through some work so it should be fine on DHCP with all routers now.

Okay, so look up Internet Prefs, again. On Interfaces page, make sure only one interface is listed, in your case SAM460EX_ETH.

On Routes page clear out any IP addresses put in for your router including any for Gateway. Do the same on the other Hosts and Name Resolution pages.

Save the settings and if all is well it will reconnect with no trouble.

Perhaps we need a Reset Prefs option.

Good advice there.

I think he has a SAM Flex, not 460 though.

Thanks. There are things I remember from setting up networks.

I thought he had a 460 as he had that in the interface name and his signature.

Nope, he has the 460, he brought it to Amiwest because it stopped booting. We got that fixed, now he just needs to get the network working again.

Was good to see you again this year.

Yes, most other prefs programs have a "Reset to defaults" option in the menus. So why shouldn't Internet prefs?

I think it should. I just noticed it wasn't there. Of course this would make things easier. The Wizard should also have option to clean slate.

OK, I'm back from Tokyo with a bit of jetlag.

Still the first thing I did was to try your settings, but I am getting:
Thu Nov 06 18:53:14 2014 [error]: Could not add route from "DEVS:Internet/routes", line 4 (Network is unreachable)

I have renamed the old DEVS/Internet files by adding "_old" to the name of the old files, so not to mess up and create new ones. This is exactly what I have now:
In Devs/NetInterfaces, copy & save as SAM460

# DEVS:NetInterfaces/SAM460
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Thursday, 14-Aug-14 at 11:52:19
device=ppc460ep_eth.device
hardwaretype=Ethernet
configure=dhcp
id=SAM460
mtu=0

In Dev/Internet, copy & save as hosts

# DEVS:Internet/hosts
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Thursday, 14-Aug-14 at 11:53:21
192.168.1.1 SAM460

In Dev/Internet, copy & save as name_resolution

# DEVS:Internet/name_resolution
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Thursday, 14-Aug-14 at 11:53:21
nameserver=192.168.1.1

In Dev/Internet, copy & save as routes

# DEVS:Internet/routes
# File generated by Internet 53.2 (27.9.2009)
# On Thursday, 14-Aug-14 at 11:53:21
default=192.168.1.1

Still no Internet.

Please help.

@WeiXing3D

From what i can see reading the posts, it seems you mix your router address with your Sam's address.

Lets try to make it simple...

1) Interfaces

Name: SAM460
Device driver: DEVS:network/ppc460ex_eth device
Device tyape: Ethernet
Unit/Port: 0
.
.
.
Try dynamic configuration (DHCP): Checked
Hostname: Here goes your ROUTER address! (192.168.178.1 for example)
IP packet type: Default checked

2) Routes
Leave that blank all the way (i want to know if your router can pick it up automatically, mine does)

3) Hosts
Your router address again (192.168.178.1) and give it a proper name (MyRouter or something)

4) Name Resolution
Again keep it simple, keep it blank

5) Services and Servers you don't need to change

Save that and see if your router picks the SAM up

If it doesn't you also need to take a look in your router wepage to see if an old entry is in there which keeps your SAM from reaching the net
