News sorting order bug

Hi!
Apparently there's a bug in the news system of that site. I suppose the news order should depend on the news' date, at least it usually is like that, but this is not the case.
Right now there is a news item on top of the list that should be on position 3 instead, if the sort order would depend on the new's date.

@Daytona675x

Not a bug bt a site feature, news items have always had the option to be be bumped to the top, independently of original posting date. In this case I suspsect because the item itself was significantly updated. If A-EON had posted a sepaerate item for each new lement in the post all other news on the front page would be obliterated, a lot more would be complaining about that!

@Daytona675x

Thanks for the post.

More news came in. It could have been entered as an additional news item (which would have knocked the AROS new down to #2 anyway), or it could have been added to the previous A-EON news item and thus bumped it up.

Either way, the AROS item was moving down, but at least this way we're not cluttering up the news page with extra post and bumping the article at the #3 position down to #4.

You might also note that we used to have a policy about limiting any graphics in a news item to the minimum (or usually none) and required you to click READ MORE to see them. I think the fact that we have multiple large screenshot in the AROS news item says it all. Mind you, someone using dial-up on an unexpanded A1000 using AWEB will probably complain soon.

@Darrin

Actually limiting images to one image per a news item on the first page could be nice, if it is technically possible. On mobile devices it is inconvenient if there are many large pictures and I just want to see headlines before I open interesting ones to background tabs.

Now when A-EON owns aw.net they can bump their own news as much as they like.

I think moderators have usually cut the news item and added "read more" to long news items, but I don't know why it hasn't happened with this AROS news.

Great point! I just looked at the page on my phone and I see exactly what you mean. I'm going to cut it down to 1 image and put the rest under the READ MORE button.

Cheers.
