| I have been trying to get kickstart update on OS3.9 Boingbag 2 to work on A4000T and A4000D with 040 and on A1200 with 060 and 030. Without Kickstart update Boingbag 2 works but with Kickstart update installed it's the same problem on all machines ans setups. After installation, machines boots normally, loads Kickstart update, resets as it should but then. Crash. Everytime. Every setup goes to infinite loop untill you turn machines off. I downloaded this Boingbag 2 from: http://os.amigaworld.de/index.php?lang=en
Back in the day when Boingbag 2 was released in the first place, I downloaded it from official source. I never had ANY problems with on ANY machines. BB2 Kickstart update worked just fine. I installed it on different setups back then, including A1200 with cyberstrom MK-III, PPC (installed to Micronik Infinitiv tower), Blizzard 1230-IV, Blizzard 1260, A4000T with Cyberstorm MK-III and PPC. No problems experienced.
This makes me wonder that is the package at Unofficial Amiga OS webpage corrupted/broken or altered some way?
Does your BB2 kickstart update work and where have you downloaded it from?

Yeah I had a problem installing BB2. I think it was an old library that caused the installer to crash. Wasn't obvious and wasted an hour or so.
Looks like you've got a different problem though _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

I may be leading you down a wrong path, but wasn't there a conflict with bb2 scsi device update on some systems?
Having said that I've never heard of it occurring on a1200's. |

Make a backup of startup-sequence. Boot to dos and open S-S with f.i. ED
Edit line with SETPATCH command to
C:SETPATCH SKIPROMUPDATE "scsi.device" QUIET
if that doesnt work
C:SETPATCH NOROMUPDATE QUIET _________________ Classic! |

| Thanks for tips everybody!
I'll try out installing BB2 from original source this week. It's incredible that original link is still up after all these years! |

| Problem solved. At least on A4000T.
The source of crashes was the new BootROM 5.0 on FastATA 4000 controller. It simply wont work with OS3.9 boingbag 2 ROM update.
I put the old BootROM 2.1 back and crashes were history at once.
