The story goes like this...
Originally, Huenison was published and sold directly by RGCD through their BigCartel webshop. Then, I put it also on Desura (which, BTW, in the meanwhile went bankrupt: they owe me ~200 EUR from the sales of BOH and Huenison, and I'll never see them ), IndieGameStand, and (quite recently) AmiStore. At some point, RGCD and I decided to publish Huenison on Steam. The game was put on Greenlight, and after quite a long time it got greenlit. Months later (maybe about a year, I can't remember exactly...), I finally started adapting the Windows version to the Steam platform. In the process, I made some improvements that were of course ported back to the AOS4 version. Once done, I made sure that everyone who had bought the game from any store would have access to the Steam version as well (so, free keys were distributed to all the previous customers). Unfortunately, as one would expect, Steam does not support AOS4, but I did want the AOS4 version to be on it to allow AOS4 users to download the updated version on their own (RGCD's BigCartel store had been closed much earlier, so there was no other way). The obvious solution was to add the AOS4 version as a free DLC associated to the Windows game... and that's why AOS4 now has a mention on Steam. And, yes, I enjoyed that idea of giving AOS4 a little publicity - after all, the game was born and developed on AOS4 _________________ RETREAM - retro dreams for Amiga, Commodore 64 and PC |
