| Years ago I had a soundfile for the startup of workbench with the voice of HAL, modified with some stuttering in the sound: "I am completely operational and all my circuits are functioning perfectly-per-per-perfectly."
Does anyone have this file tucked away somewhere? I Can't even remember what file format it was in. I'd appreciate it if someone could send it to me.
Just let me know, and I can contact you privately with my email.
Thanks,

I might still have that file. I also used it in my startup for a long while. It was on the Amiga two disk CDROM Sci-fi Sensation.
The iso images for it are at Archive.org.

Thanks for the link. I've downloaded the ISO's. Now I either have to buy some new blank CD's or a new optical drive. None of my rewriteables are recognized.
I'll PM my email in case you run across it.
Thanks.
Paul

I'll look for it tonight. In the meantime, you could try mounting the iso image file.
ISO Mount 1.24

I bought some blank disks only to find that the optical drive on my Windoze machine is bad. I burned two coasters on the Amiga, but now have one of the ISO's burned. It holds the "normal" HAL 9000 sound file, but not the one someone modified for the stuttering effect. I'll see if I can get disk 2 burned tomorrow.
Thanks for all your help. I tried one of the mounter programs you linked to, but it required some really old CD software to be installed in order to work. (AsimWare, or CacheCDFS) Didn't want to risk it with OS4.1 having inbuilt optical ability.

DiskImage.device comes as an extra with OS 4.1, doesn't it?
@Paul
So you can just install it from your CD.
And yes, it mounts ISOs as virtual CDs just fine.
Best regards,
Niels

Thanks, I had seen it but never understood what it did.
I succeeded in mounting the .iso file of the second SCI-FI cd.
So. . . @PhantomInterrogative
The "stuttering" file doesn't appear to be on the Sci-Fi Sensations cd's. Don't go to a lot of trouble to find the file. It's a "want" not a "need." I'm just getting tired of the Hirasawa sound. Plus my adult son texted me asking for the file. He remembered it from years ago when my Amiga greeted all present with that sound.

| @Paul,
Umm, use a sound editor to make as close as you recollect. You have the original?

You use Windows so use 7zip (free) to open the ISO as if it was an archive. _________________ Philippe 'Elwood' Ferrucci Sam460 1.10 Ghz AmigaOS 4 betatester Amiga Translator Organisation |
