| Thats what I love about the web...
I've just been to an Italian website to read an English translation of a Japanese man talking about an American computer. |

| Nice interview. Cool to see the Amiga still in professional use. Thanks to the Ikir Sector for an interesting read.
And, I must add, I love this quote: "Search a strange exit before you give up"

And here's a Swede posting a reply from an OS written by a Finnish guy. |

| It'd be interesting to see a listing of those things that still "only Amiga can do". It's probably related to the task communicating facilities of ARexx right? |

| @Bodie_CI5 Ooops, sorry. I thought Linux is opensourced and created by international "group" of coders. My mistake. |

If that's supposed to be sarcasm, it'd work a lot better if you've got straight facts backing it.
The foundation of Linux was originally created by a Finnish guy (that would Be Mr. Torvalds), but the OS as we know it today, with all its components and additions, has since been further developed by authors originating from or based in numerous countries around the world.
From linux.org: Quote:
| Linux is an operating system that was initially created as a hobby by a young student, Linus Torvalds, at the University of Helsinki in Finland. Linus had an interest in Minix, a small UNIX system, and decided to develop a system that exceeded the Minix standards. He began his work in 1991 when he released version 0.02 and worked steadily until 1994 when version 1.0 of the Linux Kernel was released. The kernel, at the heart of all Linux systems, is developed and released under the GNU General Public License and its source code is freely available to everyone. It is this kernel that forms the base around which a Linux operating system is developed. There are now literally hundreds of companies and organizations and an equal number of individuals that have released their own versions of operating systems based on the Linux kernel. |
No need to take my original comment in this thread too seriously though, it was a light-hearted follow-up to DruidPoets initial observation regarding the international reachings of the Amiga. I never could have guessed I'd need to defend it. *sigh* |

| I saw someone (hexaae) with a great idea from ANN :
He would like to see a unique startup sound for OS4, created by Susumu Hirasawa.
I think that would be a great homage to how Andy Warhol promoted the original A1000. Maybe even a complete set of sounds for OS4.
I think a lot of the identity of the original Amigas were more than technology and part of that was how they were promoted by famous people like Buzz Aldrin and Andy Warhol. That tradition should be continued. |
