Software News   Software News : WookieChat 1.1b Released
posted by jahc on 30-Jun-2004 11:58:09 (1974 reads)
WookieChat is a new Amiga IRC client, for chatting on Internet Relay Chat networks. Version 1.1b has been released today.

New in this release is the addition of a basic prefs and server selection window, so you dont have to manually type "/server irc.vapor.com" everytime you want to connect to a server.. you can now just select the server name, then click connect, or connect in new tab if you wish to use multiple servers at once. Adding/deleting/editing servers and server groups is possible now too. Version 1.1 did not have a configurable username, which annoyed a lot of people, but that has been fixed. Download the latest version from the WookieChat homepage. Dont forget to read the readme, theres important information in there.

Nice to see progress on WookieChat :)
I will give it a try, when I get home from work. Any plans for a native OS4 version?

Regards
Troels

Definately. It's one of the reasons I began this client.

Does your new client support sound files, /sound tunes.wav ?

@Snuffy

You going to try it out this Sunday at the Asha chat?

Well ... I downloaded this new version ..Unpacked it
Clicked on the stlisons...

To get an empty cli.

Used notepad to read the readme (as just clicking on it gave an error message) and found I (????) need to go get some third party MUI file to get it to run.

Oh well. Maybe when its finished & polished up I will buy it. Till then...

Are you saying its not polished because it needs 3rd party mui classes?

By polished I mean ..

Finished product has a proper installer that detects if any needed libraries are missing (or outdated) and ask If it wants the user to allow it to install them.
Allow any other changes that might be required for the successful usage of your program (ie: stacksize etc)

The screenshot of your irc client looks great.

Sort the niggles out and a cheque for £30 will be in the post to you. ( If thats enough?)

So basically you're denying yourself the use of this program because you dont want to download and install 3 mui classes?

OK..

So, It seems that constructive critism is a no no.

I'm sure newbies will love the bodgit & patch philosophy of Os4 programs
