Here is the seventh information release for AmiWest 2004, July 24 and 25, 2004 in Sacramento, California. Our webpage at www.sacc.org/amiwest is being updated with all the current show information. We encourage you to visit our site to see the rest of the current information.

Come see:

AmigaOS4 (developers pre-release) will be running on the SACC AmigaOneG3.
Several SACC members will also display AmigaOneG4 and Classic Amigas.
SACC member Steve Hodson will show his personal PegasosII.

Jens Schoenfeld of Individual Computers will be showing the Pre-Production
of the Catweasel MK4 .

Amiga Houston user group will be displaying Amiga Forever 6.0 and maybe
Elbox Mirage.

PageStream 5.0 will be shown.

Louie of Computer Connection will have his usual great booth.

Russ of Mr. Hardware will return for his second year with all his Amiga
goodies.

Bill of UGN, Amiga User Group Network, will be streaming video and audio.


KMOS CEO TO SPEAK AT AMIWEST 2004 BANQUET

He plans to be at the show on Saturday as well as being our banquet speaker.

Now, as promised, here is a little more information about Garry.

"Garry was Executive Vice President of Into Networks with worldwide
responsibility for Broadband Media. Into developed unique and proprietary
technology to aggregate rich media over broadband networks. He was President
and COO of OZ.com with offices in Reykjavik, Iceland and San Francisco
California. OZ is a leading multi-user communication company focusing on
wireless enabling technologies. Prior to OZ, Garry was founder and CEO of the
award winning digital publisher, Fathom Pictures Inc., specializing in sports
and vehicle simulations. He was founding Managing Director and CEO of Philips
Media Europe on behalf of Philips N.V. As head of this European digital
publishing company he built management teams to support the creation and
distribution of digital products throughout Europe. He has advised companies
such as LucasFilm, the Griffin Group, Philips N.V., Ericsson and Apple Computer,
among others, on joint venture and international partnering strategy. Garry has
held faculty positions at The Harvard Business School and The University of
Washington Graduate School of Public Policy. He began his career at Walt Disney
Imagineering and holds a Ph.D. in Organization Behavior and Development from the
University of Southern California."

"Garry's innovative productions include; the first interactive product simulator,
the first interactive action adventure, the first live-action, interactive movie
and the first coin-operated entertainment title. These and other products were
created with LucasFilm Ltd., ABC Sports, The National Football League, The
Professional Golf Association, The International Olympic Committee and others.
This work has been acknowledged with the Cindy Award, 5 InVision Awards, the
NEVI, CDIA and Paris Super Show awards as well as Best Consumer Product at
Japan's Flower and Green, and others.

Garry is a frequent speaker on Innovation, Technology and Communications.
Recent conferences include: MILIA, The Forbes New Economy Conference, The
Conference on Disruptive Innovation, The American Film Institute, the Sedona
Conference on Technology and Education, the Edinburgh Conference, Personal
Technology Outlook, the World Affairs Council, the London Conference on
Interactive CD, CES, MipComm, CTIA, The Advanced Center for Computer Studies,
The Screen Actors Guild, USC and Harvard Business Schools. Multimedia Producer
Magazine selected him as one of the World's Top 100 Producers."

I don't remember what "DOS" stands for but doesn't it mean something like a text-based OS? That's how I read it and want to remember it.

So *please* if anyone who says "AmigaDOS" (I've seen a few) reads this change it to AmigaOS!

AmigaOS has *allways* had a GUI.

No, the OS itself is a DOS. Nearly all OS's are DOS - even diskless devices like PDA's emulate disks in flash or RAM so are DOS's. Example of a OS that wasn't a DOS were early micros that used tape. Even so, many of these, like the PET and C64 were upgradeable to DOS with the purchase of an external FDD.

btw - What happened to the rumour that Bill McEwen was going to turn up at the banquet? Is anyone from Ainc going? Why don't KMOS get Ray to put SOMETHING up on their site?
