Software News   Software News : RunDOS 1.2.5
   posted by SZAMAN on 19-Feb-2006 11:52:10 (2492 reads)
RunDOS is a tool which can easily help you to run MS-DOS software simply by clicking on the icon. RunDOS is not an emulator. It just sends required data to the DOSBox emulator. Requirements: DOSBox, AmigaOS 4 or MorphOS.

Sweet. I've got FT2 configured. Feels nice to start it like any other amy app.
Hoping for a new more compatible (upd4) and faster (new SDL) compile of DosBox now.

Is there a similiar thing for E-UAE? That would be cool aswell.

actually i have a recompile of dosbox, just that i really wanna try solving the dir list isse (200~ files or more in dir will crash dosbox or even take down the system) ..why i'm relunctant about uploading it. At first it looked like it was the builtin dir cache that was at fault, but disabling that still didn't help..i'm really at a loss what the actual problem is.

if anyone with better skills than mine (c++) wanna take a look at the code i can be found at #amiga_overmind/galaxynet. (my nick is frak)

oh and the new sdl library does indeed give a hefty boost, good work richard!

There is DosBox version for OS4, MorphOS and Aros but not an OS3.x port.Why? is the SDL library avaliable for OS3 not enought for compile DosBox?

got a wos compile laying around on my a1200, but even pctask or pcx running on a 040/25Mhz is faster...yes it could have helped with a more aggressivly optimized sdl.library(there was warpsdl.library, but he never released any devfiles afaik)

and if you intend to use amithlon/winuae you are still better off with pctask/pcx..a friend of mine apparantly played quake at acceptable speed in them.

I think it would be too slow to be usable anyway.

I beg to differ! Amithlon or WinUAE on a 2-3GHz PC runs an old version of DOSBox quite nicely. It would be great if somebody would release a recent version of DOSBox for OS3.x

@SZAMAN

So does DOSBox let you run Windows on an AmigaOne ?

I may give it a go... But there are so many things I want to try and so little time !

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
