Sounds good, thanks for all the hard work.

Whats the speed like on a sam440?

On the sam from what I here the old port was virtual unusable as it was just to slow, but I am hopeful that the updated version of AmiCygnix will have fixed the issue.

Hi,

the speed is good, I think better performance than OpenOffice on Sam440ep using CruxPPC.

I think with proper dual boots and now AmiCygnix with AbiWord here, we can call this New Amiga PPC market and all you can eat buffet, just bring your own (BYO) source code.

Impressive, Most Impressive.

@Dwyloc

It's a bit of an exaggeration to say it was unuseable on the Sam, but it was a bit of a bind.

The new version is a big improvement in speed.
It's now comfortable to use and scrolling up and down pages in a word document is much smoother and easier.

The older version tended to jump around and was generally quite jerky.

@TiredofLife

Thanks for information I don't expect to writing or creating many large documents on my sam440 as I already have MS Office 2003 on my desktop PC and MS Office 2007 on my laptop, but I do edit documents now and again on my VIA Epia-M (a 600MHz x86 Mini-ITX system) with OpenOffice which my sam440 and OS4.1 will be replacing.

So its good to here that I should be able to check over any word or Office docs without rebooting into linux or booting up a PC to use remotely.

I am really looking forward trying out all the resonantly released software for OS4 that was just a bit to slow on my old BlizzardPPC equipped A1200.

AWESOME! So OS4.1 on Sam440 should now reliably cover all the basic requirements:
1. Word processing, including modern file format compatibility, using Abiword.
2. Modern web browsing, using OWB/Netsurf. (No Flash yet but that's mainly adverts)
3. Email, etc has been covered for ages by SimpleMail, etc.
