Depends on what you mean.

If you are talking about getting the Amiga back in the mainstream it's certainly to little to late but as a hobbysystem all price reductions are welcome and the SAM system is a fine piece of hardware.
Just like everyone else I would of course welcome a better spec. system but the SAM is ok for current users and developers.

Any reduction in price is welcome.

I have notice with other products that when an item is reduced it usually means they are reducing their stock before a product comes out.

I hope the same can be said here.

I just checked amigakit and the prices haven't changed on their yet.

Good news with this new prices, but the people now have that give the next step, buying these boards and that ACube will begin to design the next board with a CPU of 1GHZ that this I'm waiting to change the Sam.

The price drop for about to be obsoleted by new model products is usually much more.
Amateur radio is another market that has few companies scrambling for millions of $ in annual sales when bottled sugar water sells millions of $ per day.

Acube must make a profit if we want ANY new Amiga hardware;they are the only ones to DELIVER any board in years.I had hopes for efika since it is more powerful than many Amiga classic WITH added PPC cards but no AOS.

Sales in the U.S. no doubt hurt because "our" politicians messed with market forces and destroyed value of dollar.

I only wish that I had been smart enough to buy SAM 400 board at clearance price a couple years ago when euro:dollar almost equal.

I could of had a V8,....er....... SAM/Amiga system for under $500.

Do you mean that you think many people will now wait for new faster SAM ?

That is way to make sure Amiga will fail.

Best thing is if all those who want new Amiga computer and can afford one, will buy what is available NOW. Then when Acube makes new,better,faster SAM ,those people who insist on latest can buy that one and sell their old ,slow, SAM to Amiga lovers who are not so wealthy.

Here is what happened in CB radio in U.S.:millions of people were buying and using 23 channel set,then new 40 channel models were announced-to be available in 6 months.Everybody decided to wait for 40 channel,sales dropped,companies had warehouses full of 23 channel model.Dealers,distributors,and manufacturers went out of business.Where used to be dozens of choices now only very few.

great...so that means us recent Sam owners (i.e less than 1 month of ownership) will be getting a 5% refund back soon

..or maybe we will setlle for a backplate and Amiga sticker

I see any discount as a good move, even if it isn't because of new products are just around the corner.

Is it really that hard for ACube to make a little bit of metal with a few holes in it? Is this 2009 or 1899?

I'm sure that ACube want to get the backplate right, and so take their time with it. But yes, the long long wait does seem ridiculous for something that ought to be pretty simple....
