Software News   Software News : Amiga-based software presented at Nordental 2009
posted by fuskoSCN on 25-Oct-2009 21:42:20 (6140 reads)
Nordental is the largest convention about dentistry in Norway, with about 4000 professional visitors from both private and public healthcare. Ferrule Media was present demonstrating their series of products – Dental Kanal and Dental Info.

Dental Kanal is an informationchannel about dentistry hosted by a Sam 440EP 667mhz running os4.1. The software is developed using the amazing Hollywood/Designer-software. With the help of Andreas Falkenhahn of Airsoft Softwair we have been able to produce a commercial infochannel running smoothly even on a low-specced SAM. This is possible by using hardware accelerated crossfade-effects.

Dental Info v.3.5 is a program that helps the dentist in the process of informing patients about treatment. Dental Info has been developed using Hollywood / Designer (OS4.1) and compiled to support Windows-hosted machines.

Both products gathered a lot of interest from the visitors – we have added a few photos from the fair showing the Ferrule Media-crew and the computer-setup.

Ferrule Media would like to use this opportunity to thank for the support from both Hyperion Entertainment CVBA and Acube Systems SRL!

Most importantly we would like to thank Andreas Falkenhahn of Airsoft Softwair. Without his talent and amazing support it would not have been possible to develop Dental Kanal and Dental Info. His software is by far the most impressive tools I have ever used on Amigas.

Best regards

Good luck with your presentation. Hollywood is really a nice thing. It happens to me these days that I use MorphOS in teaching students thanks to Hollywood.

Thanks!

It is great to see that more users enjoying Hollywood! I'm glad to hear that you are able to use Hollywood when teaching students!

I just noticed that the "Sam goes to Hollywood"-deal is now available to Christmas! I hope everyone takes advantage of this great offer!

(to admin : It seems as if the ferrule-logo messed up the layout of the news-item - would it be possible to fix this ? (either remove it, or push the text a bit down to fit under the logo ? ) It would make it a bit easier to read :) (fixed by Moxee ))

Hi there!

Yes, we do provide Dental Kanal running on os4.1 (Sam and Psile-tower). We call this solution Dental Kanal Elite. This is a complete solution that is very easy to use - simply connect it to a flatscreen and the infochannel is controlled by an on/off-button. No mouse or keyboard is connected. On our homepage you will see screenshots of the tower used).

We have got a Dental Kanal Regular-version aswell - a timelimited executable that runs on Windows. However, the user needs to set up the solution himself - the Elite version is much more suitable for dentists since they ususally have limited knowledge about computers.

I remember having some dental demo program on a CD-32 machine that I bought from a local Amiga dealer near Pittsburgh, PA. History repeats itself I guess :)

I have to go to the dentist tomorrow, thanks for reminding me

Cool to see "real" stuff developed with Hollywood! Hope the show was a success.

Hopefully you'll have sucess with it - and in the end sell a lot of 4.1 licenses.

@ Troels :

Haha.. good luck at the dentist! :) You should ofcourse come to my dental-office instead - then you could see Dental Kanal running on a SAM with your own eyes :)

Hollywood is by far good enough to make commercial software. Both Hollywood and Designer has go alot of nice features to make development easier - with just a mouseclick we are even able to produce demos / fullversions of our products that stops working after a given date - a VERY nice feature!

If you havn't tried Hollywood/Designer you should order a copy and try it yourself! :)

@ Valwit

Well, when the user gets his system it is ready to go - just connect it to a screen and push the on-button. All software needed is preinstalled. If the user orders the "Elite"-version of Dental Kanal he will get a SAM 440EP.

@Torgeir
Usually no problems at the dentist, so I guess there won't be tomorrow either

I bought Hollywood years ago but will have to upgrade soon to play around the newest version. Your product seems very professional and I can tell from your website that I might even see Dental Kanal here in Denmark soon

Are you aware of anyone else using Hollywood for professional purpose like yours?

@ Troels

hmm... I'm not sure to be honest - however, there are several hollywood-users making much more impressive stuff than our programs.

We make everything using Designer (even Dental Info wich is rather a rather complex project). All artwork has been made by my favoritte graphician - Morgan "Splif" Thomas.

Andreas Falkenhahn has also been kind enough to add alot of features into Hollywood / Designer that was needed in order to produce commercial software. As I mentioned earlier - our project would not have been possible without the support from Andreas !

You will not be dissapointed when you finally upgrade!
