| Is diskimage.device important for Amiga classic users? Like, can I live without it at all and still use my A1200 with no problems? (I am curious that is all) |

What kind of a question is that? Anyway, do you feel like you have a need to mount diskimages? If not you won't need it.
A use would perhaps be to mount adf files and install... |

what hotrod said above plus, personally , this is an important piece of software for OS3.x to have as I have all my cds as images on my HD and it's much much more convenient (not to mention way faster in terms of seek/read speed) to mount them instead of insert/eject disks. Now, the diskimage author has done a really wonderful job trying to support many formats which were previously impossible to mount with simcd or virtualcd not to mention it even supports mixed-mode cds and hdf images.
I have to say a big THANKS to the author for his work on diskimage for both 3.x and 4.x versions! Thumbs up! Last edited by vulture on 08-Apr-2010 at 06:28 AM.

If you still live today then yes you can live without it. I hope this helps in your quest. Last edited by Kicko on 08-Apr-2010 at 11:21 AM.

| hello,
Thanks a lot. Verry appreciated to see AOS3 and AOS4 port of same program.
If the program isn't CPU hungry or need special compoments, there are no reason to not do that. _________________ BTW, what you have done for the amiga today ????

| Cool! I suppose I could use it for small disc images, I only have a 512MB Drive lol.
Although I have a PCMCIA CF Adaptor so could load some onto CF cards. Thanks nice development of the driver. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1

With the next version I will include png.image which is like bitmap.image but supports 32-bit png with alpha channel (this is also the only format it supports) without the need to mess around with datatypes making sure that you have the right png datatype and the right version of picture.datatype. As you can see I am using it in the screenshot above (without it there would be an ugly black background behind the button images).
