Software News   Software News : iBatch 1.2 Featurelist and Workshop
posted by gerograph on 18-Mar-2011 20:19:34 (3457 reads)
As promised, here you will find the feature list of upcoming iBatch Version 1.2. On top of that I would like to announce a workshop to be published in upcoming Amiga Future Magazine. The article will show you something about "Workflowmanagement" in iBatch. Convert Images, subtitle them, save them in html image gallery and printout an image list, with just a few mouseclicks. Once set up, it will work automatically ("workflow"). This can be accomplished via new "workflowmanager".

New Features in iBatch Version 1.2

iBatch
massive speed increase for thumbnailcreation, due to usage of jpg exif header embedded thumbnails (optional)

Metainfos (ISO Speed, Shutter Speed, capture date....) derived from jpg exif header will always be extracted and saved into seperate textfile

Metainfotextfile (exifinfo.txt) will automatically be updated, when you process images via iBatch.
All Exif Metadata from file of origin will therefor be preserved.

additional capture date based renaming modes

Windowposition and -size will be saved on exit

new addcomment-plugin
add up to four lines of text to your image

fill in Exif metadata automatically (filename, capturedate, cameramodel, ISO Speed, Shutter Speed, Exposuretime, FNumber, camera program)

updated addhtml-plugin
uses comments from addcomment-plugin in order to subtitle images on html website

new workflow-plugin
execute upto five plugins one after another automatically

e.g. workflow-plugin -> addcomment-plugin -> addhtml-plugin ->... (convert images, subtitle them and create html image gallery in one go !)

new extension-plugin
rename imagefiles extension e.g. from JPEG to jpg

delete iBatch related files, in case they are not needed anymore (thumbnailsubdidr, exifinfo.txt, pairship.syn...)

additional documentation
- updated iBatch pdf manual
- pdf manuals for plugins
- pdf conversion-profile overview (shows settings of included "conversion-profiles")

Keyboard navigation is available for all plugins. This guarantees a very fast workflow. Donnot even think about reaching for your mouse. Everything can effectivly be entered via keyboard. A very fast html gallery creation, e.g. during computer shows, is no problem. I am really looking forward to show of iBatch at the next Amiga Event or sports event.

About iBatch
iBatch (Image Batcher) allows users to easily convert/rename/renumber/resize/rotate a bunch of pictures at once. The pictures to be processed can be collected in a "Batchlist". In order to organize your batchlist ibatch provides a "Viewer" and "Batchlist browser" tool.

A fast workflow is guaranteed even on slow systems. This is accomplished by using preprocessed thumbnails/preview images for the "Viewer" or "Batchlist browser" tool. All thumbnails will be kept in sync with their corresponding source directory. Before you start the "Viewer" tool, iBatch will therefore check for existent thumbnails and add missing thumbnails from the given sourcedir automatically.

The whole program can be perfectly used for organizing/resizing digicam pics. Furthermore it becomes handy, when you have to convert whole image directories at once.

What kind of tool does it use to reencode the pictures? Custom internal or some external tool?

Right now I have setup a few DOpus buttons for rotating and scaling jpegs using some tool that I can't remember the name of, "jpegtool" or something?

@Deniil715

iBatch uses AmiBlitz3.5 includes for doing all the imageconversion stuff. Those routines reley on jpeg.library and datatypes. You have to ask the Wanderer for details here. The GUI is wizard.library build, therefor looks a bit "old school". I haven`t got the time and knowledge to imageconversion routines myself, neither buildung a reaction GUI without any help of tools like Stormwizard, AWNPipe or similiar.

If you want to stick to DOpus you might try Imageconverter CLI Tool from Wanderer/Thilo Köhler. It is somewhere on Aminet but also included in old ARexx based iBatch Version:

Well, I don't really want to stick to DOpus, and that is why I asked

I think I use some ported Unix tool for rotating and scaling the pictures from DOpus now, but when I need to do a lot of images I think a batch tool would be better. I'll try it and see!

@Deniil715

O.k. great, make sure you are not using old ARexx Version. Recent Version is 1.1 and is downloadable via above link. Extensive pdf Docu and Screenshots are also available via above link. Would be great if you could report back. Donnot bother to ask for help either here or via email !

Thanks Gero
