Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : Voting open for AmiWest Developer Award
   posted by tekmage on 8-Oct-2013 5:39:21 (5062 reads)
Hello Amiga Community,

We are pleased to present the survey form to select 5 Amiga developers from the nominated group to move on to the next level. The list came from folks visiting the AmiWest page and putting forward names of developers who have released or updated software since last years AmiWest show.... (Please click 'Read more')

Just click this link and select 5 developers or OS team from the list. The form allows you to rate your selection 1 to 5. Be sure that rank 1 should be your first pick in case we have a tie.

The top five selections will be presented at the banquet Saturday night for a vote to see who will be chosen for the award.

Happy voting!

Tough selection, but I have voted. Great idea.

Pity only one can win...many worthwhile developed products have been output from this group (and others).

I wish I could go to AmiWest this year, I would enjoy catching up with people in real life that I only hear and read about on the internet...but flying to the US from Australia for AmiWest is quite expensive.

I would also love to be there to be part of the developers training sessions and learn how to code for AmigaOS4 from the experts.

If there was a remote webinar option for the training sessions then I could use my X1000 from Australia and follow along with the sessions via my PC/Mac...any chance of this?

Catcha,
Epsilon

toni wilen is besides both named projects one of the two people who brought aros to amiga in form of aros68k. i think its worth to mention and one good reason to vote for him, apart of continuously maintaining and improving winuae or hie work on pfs.

also kas1e and the (cross platform) dopus magellan team with the port of dopus magellan are not mentioned. how could that slipped through? i think this kind of common initiatives should be rewarded especially even if not being bound to a single person, rather than to community of people with different views, though working together, they contribute to a common good and show that among the users it is still possible to be get along.

Did you submit their names during the allotted time before this list was made?

It just is what it is at this time, not a snub toward others, nor a mole hill that need
be a mountain.

@wawa

I think there are several others who are not on this list either. This is the first pass, the names presented are those who where nominated. I posted that list as it was developed as well to encourage others to add new names. I think Kas1e is doing great things for the platform. I also think that everyone who takes their time to make Amiga software deserves at least a beer for their efforts. If you feel more strongly, donate to him. Hell, donate to all the Amiga developers, buy their products. Be proud of it, post it to Amigaworld.

This project is a pilot, a what else can we do to promote the developers of Amiga Software. I hope that people are looking at the nomination page, looking at names and software they are not familiar with and going out and trying it. That's the real goal here. High light the good works and share them with everyone else.

I'm definitely listing to all the feedback, including the comment about streaming the show via a non-amiga compatible source. Of course I would add this to what is currently done to preserve the ability for Amiga users to watch on their Amiga!

Was this perfect, no, will it be better next time, we will work to make it so.

Cheers,
Bill "tekmage" Borsari

@Templario

Don't be offended if you're not on the list, many others are not.

In August tekmage asked everyone to nominate people, so if nobody nominated you by the end of September then you won't be on the list. I'm not on that list either and if you think about it for a minute, it's okay, we wouldn't deserve one of the top 5 spots anyway. I can think of more than 5 nominees who clearly contributed a lot more than we did so it's only fair.

This is the problem these list always leave out to other developers and always are the same, but curiously I think that someones are always presents in these list for the bad conscience the people, for example always is Andreas Falkenhahn but when he has available to buy the Hollywood the people bought few products now that he hasn't available to purchase the Hollywood all people in this list want anything.

Same thing here...there are people who were nominated who mysteriously are not on the list. Not really good for morale in the community. Maybe I'll just stick to Windows...

Templario :

It's a hobby, therefore, yes, we waste our free time to "develop" some littles programs for Amiga.

But It's a hobby, therefore it's just for fun

@Templario / @Minuous

if you're not on the list then either you weren't nominated by folks who took the time to fill out the form or there was an error along the way. there is no conspiracy FFS. there was no vetting -- it was entirely based on what people submitted. sheesh.

@Minuous

Well imho you don't need to be listed there to have the estimation of the community, that is high already

Yes Amiga is a hobby but sometimes the some recognition of our work helps keep our interest in this hobby.
