Calling this overly big un-ergonomical joystick the Arcade Evolution seems quite unfair to the original Arcade joystick, and smells a bit like "hey lets call it the Arcade because everybody remember that joystick"

Get the original designs for the Arcade joystick and start scrathing boing ball logos in it. That would be better namewise.

@Hondo

Well, if it isn't Mr Glass Half-Empty.

To me this looks exactly like an arcade machine joystick, maybe that's the general look and feel they were going for?

Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

@olegil

Well I didn't think they were trying to replicate the old arcade machines with this design, but maybe you are right on that one.

But I still think the original arcade joystick would have been a better choice to replicate

Judging only by the photos, I don't really like the ergonomics and the size of this joystick. I thought we could do better, sorry.

Perhaps that is the problem.

It's always 'we' in Amiga world.

No it is not. If you have used joysticks in Amiga or arcade cabinets it's easy to say if it's for you or not.

The depth of the metal joystick shaft means that the case needs to match that depth.

Yes, and that is a personal preference. It is the further step you took by insinuating that Amigakit did a poor job. That is not very constructive. You should be pleased and encouraging folks who are releasing products whether you like them or not.

If you mean we as in us against the world I would agree.

might be interested in the long term future, just wondering does it have automatic fire mode.. my old joystick has a switch for that.

also what's the reason for 2 fire buttons, any games make use of that? or is it just so you can move you hand between either button?

thanks

Judging by the photos (i don't have it) its size looks comparable to so-called "arcade sticks" for the consoles... having built one myself, i can tell it's mainly due to mechanics.
