hardware Classic   hardware Classic : Ryś USB adapter
   posted by Spidi on 2-Oct-2014 18:24:21 (5110 reads)
Our product has been created as an easy and affordable way to connect USB HID devices to Amiga computers. It is based upon 16-bit Microchip microcontroller.

Ryś comes equipped with an internal USB stack which facilitates support for HID devices (like mouse, joystick or pad) without the need for providing additional Amiga OS software drivers. Typical installation procedure comes down to plugging Ryś into appropriate port of the Amiga (mouse or joystick port) and it all just works from then on!

Click READ MORE ===>

Ryś supports something truly unique among available mouse adapters: ‘Bootloader’ mode, which allows activities like performing software updates. Ryś’s additional feature is its handling of not only mice (like the case with other adapters lacking internal USB stack), but also USB joysticks and USB pads.

These are the qualities of Ryś:
- support for both USB HID and USB-PS/2 mice,
- support for USB HID joysticks,
- support for USB HID pads,
- compatible with every Amiga (although some models may require additional adapters)

More information is available at retro.7-bit.pl

@ klx300r

Yeah that's what I want. Transparent use through joystick port gave me a hint of no. However, perhaps the design could be expanded in future, even with a firmware update, that could perhaps add USB drive support with a driver. Seems well thought out.

How would that work? You can't connect storage to the joystick ports!

Hello

I have an aged Amiga 500 that works fine and I have plugged on it with an ACA500+ACA1232 combo accelerator board.

The machine needs an USB solution to copy my WHDLoad games from PC to Amiga or at least I need a Compact Flash card adapter to use for my PC and I would find one,I could tranfer the software from portable pc to Amiga.

I believe is very important for me because if I could finally do the work in some way games like Wolfenstein3D or Doom could be playable on my Amiga 500.

I hope that someone knows where to get this hardware that it's very important to me because then I could really make proper use of my ACA/Amiga 500.

Hope to see some news.

Thanks Amigans.

Hola Amigo

If you have an ACA500, you can attach CF cards

The compact flash adapater for PC can be found
in any "chinos bazar" in Spain....for just 4€

En el Chino fijo, en cientos de sitios y en amazon:
yo tengo este:

http://www.amazon.es/Lector-tarjetas-Grabador-Memoria-2322/dp/B00DBVP118/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1412586679&sr=8-5&keywords=lector+CF

Greetings tio

@Pleng

It would need custom drivers and special firmware in the adaptor, but it's possible in theory. The joystick ports can be used as general I/O Ports just like the parallel port. Would be pretty slow and CPU intensive though!

Good to see it has mounting holes either end. This means that if you have an A1200 with the mouse port on a fly-lead or seperate PCB you can remove the shell from the interface and fit the adapter inside the case. I did the same with my Elbox serial mouse interface. You can't do the same with their PS/2 interface.

@klx300r

Right now my only A1200 is out of action. Problem with my Cobra. So what I would like is USB solution for my A4000. Zorro card would be nice.

LOL! According to the info it can handle software updates so looks possible it could communicate over joystick port.

Yo no me fiaba de cosas de estas de los chinos,
pero el que traía de serie mi PC daba cientos de problemas,
y a la desesperada me fui a un chino. ;-D

Lo uso con Linux, Windows, MorphOS, Amiga,
y ni un problema...

Ya nos contarás !
