Miscellaneous News   Miscellaneous News : AmiGift (0.5) - p2p (Kazaa/ED2K/Gnutella etc) client screenshot released
   posted by _Steve_ on 23-Oct-2003 9:48:21 (6773 reads)
AmiGIFT, a Kazaa client for AmigaOS has been making steady progress over on sourceforge. The team still have many bugs to iron out before a release will be made publice, but they have released a single screeshot displaying the stage it has reached. It uses MUI, and appears to have a very well defined UI setup. Take a look for yourselves here.

just to clear some things up, i am using this and i have used it for quite some time now.

Amigift uses modular sections , so it supports Gnutella , OpentFt , Edonkey etc.

so Edonkey is in amigift and will be working properly before the full release...

anyway it has some more modules supported (right now) but i dont want to blow the suprise away when you read it next time in the news :D

cheers

From looking at the preferences window, that's what I thought. It pretty much supported several different services.

Are you sure about edonkey support in giFT?
I know of OpenFT, FastTrack, Gnutella and Napster protocols supported, but I tought edonkey-gift was a dead project.

You are making me a happier little worm!

@lionstorm:
SixK halted his edo client project some months ago.

Thanks for the update. Specific details on this Amiga P2P client were a little hard to find

@amigamad
On amiga.sf.net you can find dctc. It's a text client for Direct Connect and it works beautifully... it only lacks a gui to be perfect.

I find there are fewer things on kazaa anyways these days especially in Europe where most users user alternative p2p clients like ED2K instead.

Aah, this is good news.. AmigaOS(4) needs apps like this if it's gonna attract joe average. I trust this is easily ported for OS4 when it rolls out?

Great job, AmiGIFT team, keep it up.

I have mixed feelings about this, half me say`s this is good the other half say`s no way.
Don?t forget piracy is what killed off Amiga in the first place besides commodore. Apart from my mixed feelings this is good (Confused,yes!)

I think this type of software is essential, piracy or no.

People expect software like this nowadays.

Great news.
Well done guys.

Kazaa is evil.

History will repeat itself.

The apocolypse is coming... seriously, listen to yourselves. If you are all so willing to leech warez off each other, then who the hell is going to pay for Amiga software. Or PC software, for that matter.

I'm very dissapointed, but not surprised. The Amiga is doomed, as usual.

@Argo
No, thanks. I prefer edo because of eMule, xMule, mldonkey etc.
I don't trust closed source file sharing software.

@Toaks
No, I tought edonkey-gift plugin project was dead not because I didn't see it on your screenshot, but because edonkey-gift's hp on berlios has always been empty :)

I hope to see the new shot soon... maybe with a clearer theme :p
