I do wish people would stop claiming the Sam doesnt have have the power to play a DVD, i used to play DVDs with no frame skipping on a 300mhz AMD K6 (not K62 so no 3DNow and 66mhz bus) 66mhz SDRAM and a PCI ATI Rage 128. if that could do it then i'm sure a SAM can with the right software :D
Oh dear, then my 400MHz Efika should be able to play DVDs without frameskipping, too. It just cant do that yet because nobody wrote support for DVD hardware acceleration.
And it is even likely that on some (many?) tasks AMD K6 is faster than your 440EP (or my MPC5200B for that matter). It has got larger L1 cache and instruction set is probably more efficient since less instructions are needed to do the same job...
It is funny when Amigas were at 7-50MHz range everybody was shouting that 68k does more per clock than x86...
