News posted by AndreasM on 20-Apr-2023 7:36:43 (1024 reads)
These comprise of the full colour preview and excerpts of our Amiga Future issue 162 (May/June 2023) which can also be viewed online on the Amiga Future website.

Some of the interesting articles in this issue are:

Preview Settle World
Review Ring around the World
Review Maria Renard’s Revenge
Review Boxx
Review Geos Quest
Review Hollywood 10
Review AmigaOS 3.2.2
Review Prelude ZII recreated 2022
Review AmiFox
Special Demoscene

Of course there's actually so MUCH more in the magazine.

Needless to say you will often get other versions of software, some of which were commercially available, as well as some of the latest try-outs or freely released software applications and games for, hopefully, every Amiga variant of Operating system, so that's Amiga 'Classic', OS4, MorphOS, and AROS, including some PD software for these systems, all on the Readers' cover CD.

A detailed description of the varied content and excerpts of our current issue can be found at: https://www.amigafuture.de/app.php/kb/index?c=13

The Amiga Future magazine is available both as an English and German printed magazine - each issue is printed in FULL COLOUR - directly available from our magazine editorial office and from various other Amiga dealers.

Important Notice!

All our Amiga Future subscribers should check that both your current postal and email addresses for you are correct that has been supplied by you to us.
The Amiga Future gets packed and shipped a few days prior to its actual release date. So, we need any change/correction to your address to be passed to us before we dispatch it, and in any case as soon as possible.
Bear in mind that: Usually requests to forward on mail will not be handled with such mail items, i.e. magazines!

We also ask that you check that your subscription fee(s) are current and up to date, i.e. already been paid, as some, in fact quite a few, subscription fees are still not currently fully paid.

The download area of the Amiga Future was updated today. So, you can now find the following full versions online:

Deathbringer
Mega Traveller 2
Sleeping Gods Lie
War in the Gulf

https://www.amigafuture.de/app.php/dlext/index

An overview of the recent uploads and changes to the download database of Amiga Future is also available from this link:

https://www.amigafuture.de/app.php/dlext/latest

Of course we also want to be able to offer you many more full versions online, but to be able to achieve this, for you, we need your help, so ...

We are on the lookout for the Copyright holders for Amiga games and applications.
Do you know of any such person or can you actively help us in our search?
If so, then please contact us by email.

We are looking for extra support in order to revise the full versions download area of the Amiga Future webpage.
In particular, to check whether all those full versions formats (ADF, IPF, WHDLoad, AGA, CD releases, etc.) are complete.
In addition, a short description, in 2 sentences or less, about each of their system requirements and some screenshots need to be created.
If you want to help us, then please send us an email.

software Classic   AppBuilder v3.1 for Hollywood 10 released
software Classic posted by Allanon on 13-Apr-2023 7:04:35 (974 reads)
AppBuilder v3.1 released
Here is the project page where you can read all the details and where you can download the packages.
-----
AppBuilder is a tool that can drastically increase your Hollywood-MAL productivity, infact, with AppBuilder, you can compile and pack your cross-platform projects with a single click without bothering with long shell commands.

In a standard environment, if you want to target multiple platforms and you are making use of plugins, you would have to build your executables and manually you have to pack them including the right plugin for every targeted platform. This process is extremely boring but worst part is that it can lead to mistakes copying the wrong plugin for the targeted platform or putting it in the wrong folder.

If you often build your applications for multiple platforms this utility is a must have!

With a easy to use interface this app let you select for which platforms you want to build, let you set up your main source and what Hollywood plugins your application needs: AppBuilder will manage for you all the boring tasks like copying the correct plugin version in the correct target platform folder.

Additionally AppBuilder can manage for you your application resources, just tell AppBuilder which resources must be included with your application and it will copy all of them in the right folders, MacOS application boundles are also handled, MacOS .app bundles will be managed by AppBuilder with no efforts from the user.

AppBuilder can also manage external data: with external data I mean data that must be included with your distribution but that is not essential to run your application, and should be placed outside the main application folder.

Think about a “readme” file, or documentation files : setting these files as external, AppBuilder will copy them inside the build folder but outside the application folder, this is especially useful for MacOS applications because external files will be placed outside the application boundle and will be easily accessible by the final users.

One more thing that AppBuilder can do is to create for you a zipped archive ready to be distributed, it uses 7zip so you must have it on your system to use this feature or, at least, you should have a similar program that uses the same command line arguments of 7zip.

You can get a key for free if you are my patron or you can get it with a small donation (please read about it in the project's web page).

Change Log
- Started support for multi-language (but not yet available)
- Changed the layout to add an information line at the bottom of the window
- Overing the mouse on a button a brief explanation will be displayed on the bottom line
- Added a “Reset configuration” button in the “Configuration” window
- Configuration is now saved in JSON format, old format is still processed and converted to the new one
- Added switch : “Use build date in build folders”
- Added switch : “Open build folder after building the application”
- Added project switch : Enable/Disable “Console Mode”
- Added project switch : Enable/Disable “Lock Settings”
- All plugins has been updated to their latest available version, missing plugins has been added.

News   Amiga Future subscription campaign for more pages
News posted by AndreasM on 6-Apr-2023 8:43:21 (952 reads)
An Amiga Future issue currently has 52 (+4) pages.
+4 means that we temporarily have four additional pages in each issue due to the amount of advertisements.

However, we generally want to increase the number of pages in the Amiga Future in order to have more space for editorial content.
There is more than enough for testing. We only need the space for it and of course a few editors and translators as well.

In order to be able to finance this permanently, we simply need more subscribers. Well ... a couple of long-term advertisers for the magazine and homepage wouldn't be bad either, but this is only about the subscribers and the number of pages.

We have calculated the whole thing more precisely. In order to be able to finance four additional pages, we need 24 NEW subscribers. For eight pages we need 48 NEW subscribers.
Ideally, subscriptions with CoverCD.

https://www.amigashop.org/index.php?cPath=41

That's why we started a counter with immediate effect. If we create 24 new subscriptions by the 30. April 2023 , we will have four more pages in each issue of the Amiga Future in the future. With 48 new subscriptions even eight pages more.

And if there are more than 48 new subscriptions ... Well, let's think about it if the miracle should really happen. ;)

You can find the current status of the campaign on the Amiga Future Webpage at the top.

Amigaworld.net News   Hyperion wins lawsuit against Cloanto
Amigaworld.net News posted by sananaman on 3-Apr-2023 9:11:43 (4626 reads)
Hyperion Entertainment CVBA obtains key victory in US Federal Court

Hyperion Entertainment is pleased to announce it obtained a sweeping victory in the US District Court of the Western District of Washington at Seattle in the litigation brought against Hyperion by Cloanto Corporation and the Amiga Parties (Amiga Inc., Itec, LLC and Amino Development Corporation).

The Court dismissed all of the remaining claims in this proceeding filed by Cloanto Corporation and the Amiga Parties against Hyperion Entertainment and found entirely in favor of Hyperion Entertainment by granting Hyperion's Motion for Summary Judgment as to all counts.

The instant case was initiated against Hyperion Entertainment on December 14, 2017 (!) when plaintiff Cloanto Corporation (later joined by the Amiga Parties) filed suit against Hyperion in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York alleging Hyperion exceeded the rights granted to it by the 2009 Settlement Agreement thereby resulting in copyright and trademark infringement.
