Public Beta of JIT Javascript Compiler for Odyssey v1.25 for MorphOS |
| Amigaworld.net News posted by ASiegel on 18-Jul-2018 15:41:27 (4568 reads) |
Mark Olsen has shared a special test version of the recently launched Odyssey v1.25 that introduces a PowerPC native port of Webkit's Just-In-Time Javascript compiler, which can greatly accelerate suitable web applications.
Please note that JIT compilation does increase memory consumption. Also, please be aware that this release only includes the first stage of the JIT compiler which limits the speed increase.
Further performance improvements are to be expected in the future.

RastPort announces a new product for Amiga 1200, KA21, which is a hardware Gayle reset fix. The Gayle chip has a known bug, it does not reset PCMCIA card when Amiga is rebooted. Because of that many PCMCIA cards are not visible to the system after reboot. KA21 generates missing reset signal. Additional features are pins for system reset button and signals for clockport expanders. These devices need additional A15/A14 address lines, which usually are taken from ROM chip using additional socket. Instead these lines can be connected to dedicated pins on KA21.

AIBOT game released
AIBOT is a test game of an educational game idea aimed at teaching coding principles to player. It was made for Christiandevs Speedgame 2018 competition and received an honorable mention.
You can see a bit about the game from this Apostolic Game Designers video about speedgames (AIBOT starts at 6:20): Apostolic Game Designers: Christian Speedgame Contest 2018 - 8 New Games!!
at start, AIBOT is available through Indiego Appstore: Indiego Appstore
I will at later point also upload this to Aminet, but in effort to show support to Indiego Appstore, it is available from there for now.
AIBOT is available to all main Amigas (OS3, OS4, MorphOS, AROS) and also Windows. If there is interest to Mac and Linux versions, I can make them too. Notice that this was made with Hollywood using power heavy ways for graphics, so you need very powered up machine to have a chance for this to work on OS3.
Go now and download it to your favorite machine from Indiego Appstore!

The MorphOS development team is proud to announce the immediate availability of MorphOS 3.11. In addition to performance, stability and security improvements, this new version also features the first more substantial update of the Odyssey web browser in a while, which improves the rendering of and general compatibility with modern websites in several ways, as well as a more refined version of the recently introduced Flow Studio, our official integrated development environment. For a more extensive overview of the changes included in MorphOS 3.11, please read our release notes.
We strongly urge new users to carefully read our installation and troubleshooting guides before they attempt to install MorphOS for the first time. Existing users can upgrade via the familiar procedure but are encouraged to read the guides as well. MorphOS 3.11 is available for download in our files section.

New articles on Obligement |
| News posted by Daff on 1-Jul-2018 7:09:02 (2195 reads) |
The following articles have been added to the website of the French Amiga magazine Obligement ( http://obligement.free.fr ) during the last two months:
- May/June 2018 news. - As mentioned in the previous activity report, Vampire V4 is late. The team wants it to be perfect and they have been busy in the past few months bringing a great product to the Amiga community. - Part of the delay is due to a bug that caused the Vampire V4 to work well on some Amiga 500s and not on others (despite identical revisions). - Work on the Gold3 core has resumed and it works better and better with each new revision. There is still work on the Copper lists and AGA / RTG switching. - Igor Majstorovic has resumed production of the Vampire 600 (which is now in version 2.1) and the delivery of this card to users has resumed. - Some elements of the Vampire 600 have been improved (better feeding circuit, better capacities, better connector ...). - The Apollo team fully supports Philippe Lang's Amiga 500 package campaign. The Apollo team is one of the partners.

Amiga Developer Network: Working Weekend Report |
| software OS4 posted by amigakit on 29-Jun-2018 17:14:43 (2711 reads) |
Two weeks ago, some of the Amiga Developer team members made the trip to Cardiff from Italy, Czech Republic and of course within the United Kingdom to attend a long working development weekend.
It was four days of Amiga coding work, comradery and late evening meals often involving curry and beer. Getting together as a team in the same place and being able to discuss ideas has great benefit resulting in a good exchange of ideas and solutions to coding problems.
Good progress on the next version of the Enhancer Software was made and proposals for future projects explored.
The report on the projects that were worked on leading up to and including the weekend are published here:
