If next AmigaOS 4 update have some features which MorphOS wouldn't be able to just wrap but have to emulate with especially written routines, OS4Emu will be pretty useless, or became slow when emulating them for example Warp3D with SNAP features etc. It will be like Emulating AmigaOS over TOS. Not impossible, but hard enough. Or another example - PearPC - it emulates decently, but when it comes to OpenGL stuff, it's extremely slow. The only hope is the next update to come soon enough. _________________ Games, programs, reviews |

looked over at ANN.lu an user called Pietr is thinking about going MorphOS
Well given its ann.lu which has spent the last days with posts on it trying to revive 'the war' I would just /not react/ because its probably just not true.
Besides, if thats what he wants to do, good luck to him. |

"unfair competition" ? You mean like trying to potrait the other side as criminals (which your accusations boil down to, and which we allready had in another context) ?
Or do you mean like when P96 "stole" the CGX-API, which clearly damaged the sale of CyberVision-cards and the potential to licence CGX out ?
Or when H&P used the CS-PPC-protos they got to create a rival kernel (instead of adapting their apps to the existing ones) and someone later even added n emu-layer to it. Which all played a major role in the downfall of P5 ??
Nah, you couldn't mean those.....
If anything Amiga wants to be successfull, it needs to successfull outside the tiny group of die-hards.
To be successfull outside this group it needs to stand on it's own feet. Pricing, availibilty, performance, reliabilty, useabilty and a good after-sales support are the things that need to be taken care of before anyone should waste a splitsecond on the competion, no matter wether that competion is seen inside "amiga" or outside of it. _________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |

Which offcourse would only apply if the app in question uses W3D at all.
But AFAIR it was allways said that SNAP would show itself as one P96-driver, with all API-calls routed through P96. The only (major) W3D-update I heard of is "NOVA" which seems to be targeted at OS4.1 or 4.2 and would therefore not be seen before 2007 or later.
But what amazes me the most is that the "red-side" is allways so defensive when it comes to OS4EMU, just like these few apps that are emulated are the only thing that make buying an A1 an option...._________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |
