i use deficons with mplayer but i hardly use workbench for browsing endless long dir structures and icons so i prefer dopus for dooing the stuff along with (sometimes) the gui that was released.
ps:i dont have mplayer in my dockie but i have other players in there. Last edited by Toaks on 31-May-2005 at 10:19 AM.

You are a lucky man, you have a own A1.
Fortently a friend lend me his A1 and I can use OS 4 now, because I now still waiting over 6 month for my own microA1.
That's no joke or something.
I think I ordered it by the wrong dealer, because other dealers have boards on stock, but to late for me I payed in december last year and now I hope every week of a sign from my dealer. _________________ microAMIGAONE G3 750GX@800MHz RAM:256MB HD:250GB ------------------------------------------------- |

Sorry for stepping in here - but for me it's completely new that I can go and buy OS4 somewhere. Can you please provide a link? I'm waiting since ages for OS4 for my A4k with CSPPC... Quote:

Errrrrmmmm - now you're confusing me. Why are you "looking forward to the final release", "when it's in fact already here"?
What now - has OS4 final been released now and can I go and buy it or not? _________________ Ciao

no, as said in the thread :
You can buy an AmigaOne with OS4 now and you get os4 final for free (the release package (not just an update)
Os4 for classics will come only in the final release as stated a million times.

You're on a wind up again!!
You know OS4pre release is only available with an A1 motherboard, or system, and they were saying buy an 'AMIGONE & OS4' to use it.
You have this wicked sense of humour, and love to wind people up.
OS4 for the BPPC will be released at the same time as OS4.0 final, and not before . _________________ Peter Swallow. A1XEG3-800 [IBM 750FX PowerPC], running OS4.1FE, using ac97 onboard sound.

As has already been pointed out by previous posters, AOS4 is here. It's "released" and very usable by all means, only not in a version labelled "finished" yet. So if you want to run the new Amiga there is really no point in holding off buying it (i.e. buying an A1+AOS4) only because the OS is not released with a "finished" label. I agree though that if you wait for AOS4 for the classics, then you have to wait still. For me, AOS4 on the classics is not "the new Amiga". It's a transition without a long-term future - I can't imagine Hyperion will be able to support it long after the initial version. I've never seen the point of sticking to the old hardware personally, but that's your choice. . SlimJim |

Swoop, neither I'm on a wind up again, nor do I have a wicked sense of humor.
I just replied to SlimJim's posting - and *HE* did *NOT* mention that I would have to try to get hold of an A1 (which is said to be buggy, outdated hardware at an shameless high price) as well if I want to test/use OS4.
He was simply implying that anyone could go and buy OS4.
Of course you are right that I know that currently OS4 is only available as an pre-release and only in conjunction with an (sometimes hard to find) A1.
But I had the last two weeks off and have not been online for a week or so - so it could indeed very well have been (although admittedly unlikely), that OS4 final had been released in the meantime without me knowing it.
Aside from that I'm fed up with people making obviously wrong or false statements in their posts here - for what reason ever.
But I don't come in here and say: 'Hey, you're talking bul*sh*t, man!'.
I thought it would be much less offensive if I act the fool and take his posting literally, ask some slightly ironic questions to lead him to the understanding that this way of wording it definitely can lead to misunderstandings for non-native English speakers.
Or would you prefer the first way? But as I stated above - this time it could as well have been that I missed the big day because of my holiday...

Sorry, Dandy, no offence, but how often will you come up with this ? And how often do I have to tell you the exactly same thing in answer ? I explained to you in detail, multiple times, whey there's no CSPPC version yet, why this is taking so long, and all that stuff. _________________ Thomas, the kernel guy

No need to apologize, Thomas! At the risk of boaring you - here is my simple answer to your simple question: I will continue to point out obviously wrong statements as long as I see them popping up and as long no one else feels empowered... Quote:

You're repeating yourself - and things are NOT getting more interesting by that, as yourself keep telling me.
If you read my posting more carefully you would have noticed that I wrote: Quote:

Are you doing that intentionally or does your workload (finalizing OS4) not allow you to read the postings here more carefully? (I would prefer the latter) _________________ Ciao

"Obviously wrong statements"?
I'm sorry, but what was wrong on the statement? The fact he didn't mention you need an A1? Do you also point out that WinXP is not available for your machine unless you have a CD-ROM drive?

I would prefer if you could stop claiming or suggesting each and every one is doing things "intentionally". You did that a few times to me as well. I could also ask you if you are engaging intentionally in your holy crusade.
Perhaps you should write more clearly what you want to say. Your "intentionally" record is starting to sound really boring._________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. Write me a mail |

| I hope it is done soon, and this year... I would hate to wait an other year.
I have enjoyed some of hyperions products, and they are great.
But, I am getting a bit tired of "when it is done", this ssems only to work in the amiga sector, or maybe expand to the IT sector in general. You will never hear a contractor stating that your house is done when it is done. But you can however get a functional room rigth now... Maybe your house/car/boat/what ever is ready some time next year.
I can see why some people are getting somewhat frustrated, including me.
I know, form what i read and hear, that AOS4.0 is pretty much all that. which is great, and I will buy a copy. _________________
