Yes, it is a dream.

Guess we have to run Blizzard-games through Mac-emulators.

Mmm

With 4 millions I would better like to see the new Video Toaster / Lightwave 3D (all newtek stuff ) ported back to the Amiga

That would be the coolests things to comes

An updated version of Wordworth would suffice for me but I don't see it happening

Well, I know. Though I think if you go to them and say
(For Starcraft or Warcraft 3 or Halflife or whatever...)
"Listen, I REALLY want this game and I pay 500000 USD, payment on receive of source-code, so before the port is completed" or something like that I doubt they would decline.

Of course that would be enough to pay you 10 licences of other games... :) And expensive licences at that...

Anyways, I think if you bang enough money on the table I do not think they would say no. But sadly the amount I think which is the limit for them to "go for it" is so high that it will be too much for any Amiga Company (and definitely it would be wayyyyys more than you can ever get back from the sales of the game... even if someone would have that money it would be more of a PR measure, to make the platform known and such...).

>Not that I'm sure, but weren't MagicSN speaking of Blizzard >and not Titan? Is it me mixing up the two things, or..?

I was talking about Blizzard. Still, despite them not agreeing on a port for any reasonable kind of money after what I heard I am sure they would agree on a port for an UNREASONABLE amount of money, hehehe :) They would be stupid if they wouldn't... But well, I guess nobody of us has soooo much money to spare...

iirc digita wanted £60K for the sources for Wordworth ...

And that was considered Waaaaaaaaaaaay too much ( Which I agree).

4 mill .... Cloud cuckoo land atm ... And probably for a long time to come too.

Well it's a lot less than $4 million and I'm sure you could get digita to throw in the rest of their amiga stuff. Money Matters, Organiser and Datastore.

With the rest of the money you can buy the code for TuboCalc Give whats left to Hyperion to port everything to OS4 and there you have a full office suite of original Amiga software.

Maybe not the best around but a base for someone to start with and build on.

Probably even easier to do than porting OO!

About Blizzard...
I have seen a lot of criticism against them not even letting the source-code for Warcraft 1 free, and the Freecraft people got into trouble when they made the Warcraft-puds compatible with Freecraft.
All honour to ID-software for letting the source for Doom and Quake free.

@Darth_X

why would anybody want papyrus.
I HATE DO EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN and SUCK AT EVERYTHING SOFTWARE.

I like my wordproccesors to be wordprocessors. I don't want my word proccessor to also be a complete graphic editing suite or hypermedia or CDROM BURNER!!!!.

I hate having to scroll through pages of menus to change ten settings. In order for me to type www.whatever.com and NOT HAVE MY WORDPROCCESSOR UNDERLINE AND CHANGE its COLOR BECUASE IT THINKS IT A GOD D$@# WEB BROWSER.

I really like Final writer 97 lots of options intuitive does things I still can't do easily in Office or Wordperfect.
I rather run UAE and FW97 it works and I can spend my time creating rather than fighting with my software.

I hate having people send me letters and text in XLS format.

Software that tries to do everything tends to do everthing badly.

It just makes life harder than it should be and wastes resources.

I hate having a 23KB jpeg combined with 5KB of text resulting in a 2.5 MB file.

My rant deal with it.

seriously . if titan doesnt want payprus sales on amiga and just on a wannabee amiga, that is his problem .

in the end it might be our problem also but we have seen so far that commercial stuff doesnt sell on pegasos alone (knights and merchants is a good example), sure this should get better as times move on , but will this make people interested in stayiing around?

i would love to see papyrus etc but i doubt i would buy it!, i have no use for such stuff tbh and i am sure it will be very expensive also! (100+ quid?).

but i agree on that os4 NEEDS a simmilar package , and its titan's problem if he doesnt want to support both and actually try an make some money!.

- that said , maybe titan is like i am ... i wont support the other camp anymore , only what i have interests in! ...i am a red troll and titan is a blue :D

bah.... MAKE PORTS NOT WAR :D

It would be great to maybe get Gobe Productive ported over to Amiga. Of course OpenOffice would be the top choice since it's quite popular these days.

Sound very interesting to me as well.

I have always pondered, since the days of the VIC-20, about games based on biblical history... sure there are plenty of games based on fantasy, but how about some good ones based on actual history!

"Kings Quest" based on King David or King Solomon anyone?

I understand where you are coming from, I don't like the complexity and bloatware of M$ products, and Open Office also sounds like a huge package.

http://www.rom-logicware.com/e_start.htm
Papyrus is the basics, it doesn't contain a zillion options you don't need. And when installed Papyrus takes up aprox 5MB of space on the hard drive.

If Final Writer is 99% OS legal maybe it will run on OS4 just fine.
